I am lucky enough to get a day in Colorado as I drive through April 26th or 27th (2015). Can anyone tell me what the snow levels are in Southern Colorado? I'd love to bag a 14er and can deal with some snow if it's in good shape. Thanks.

Hey Easton. I'm up here in Denver and have been to Estes park ( near Long's peak, a 14er) last weekend and backpacking in Lost creek (North of Pikes peak, another 14er) the week before that. The general rule of thumb for 14ers is not until at least early June. With the very southern 14ers you might be able to squeek by mid May but there is snow here starting at 12,000 feet right now. I would recommend staying below that (we backpacked up to 10,000 and it was fine). Unless you are quite skilled with snow alpinism I'd hold off for now.

Thanks. I know how to do it, but don't want to commit to that this trip, I'll plan to stay under 12k. That is very helpful, thank you.
