I don't know what word you were looking for, but Aurora is, to the best of my understanding, a stock site with standards, discrimination and an ethos. I don't think you'd find many pro photographers that have a problem with what they do. There's no irony or hypocrisy in my posting it.

Ha! Didn't even see your post until now. Actually Gwunkzow I always informed the OS contribution enquiries that as great as their work was, we were not interested in using it, that they should value their photos and submit them to paying clients. CRUX is a community based mag. Those who are published are local community members interested in contributing to a valued local community venture. (EDIT: I actually just recalled that for the first couple issues, we had intentions of turning it into a full-time gig for our core staff & paying contributors well, so I recall that I responded during that period to OS enquiries with 'yeh I'd love to use the photos but hey pst you should hold out until we start paying!'- after we realised this & that, & most of us actually preferred the local zine feel to a glossy ad-choked rag, so thats how it panned out!) Anyway I've explained it all before, I'm not getting into this... What I actually came here to do was post about my new blog; http://joshcaple.blogspot.com/

The 650+ TOPA members, and outdoor photographers in general have all benefited immensely from the mere existence of TOPA and from the efforts of guys like Harrison Shull, Tim Matsui, Michael Clark, who care about keeping the travel and outdoor photography industry solvent. That said, it's more than just a database to mine for information or to "get help". It's a volunteer effort to keep the standards high and emphasize professionalism for photographers. The group is only strong if its members are willing to participate, and to volunteer their time. Andrew Kornylak / Aurora Select www.akornphoto.com

http://www.shorpy.com Just adding this one. Some guy is scanning all the old negatives from a US archive and putting them up in large format. Some real nice shots of American history and how the world was and how it has changed. Good couple of hours spend on that website.

Thanks for the heads up on that one. I haven't been by Scott Kelby's blog in a while, so I likely would have missed it. I was a little disappointed that he didn't get the the segment on buying sticks from Ikea, but I thought it was pretty well-balanced video. Winter and summer are my heaviest workloads, so I get to beat my head against the wall in spring and fall. It's actually nice to hear from someone a decade older than me that it doesn't stop.

The shutterstock looks like a fun place to make money. 25 cents a click beats 0 cents a click. I can reccomend a G rated site of mine with 900 photos, more when I can figure out the scanning of my slides. If anyone wants a high resolution copy for free, please contact me off of the site and I will be honored to send you one. http://www.photographyatmelviniowa.net

Great trip blog, Dan! Looks like you're seeing a lot.... I like the Continental Breaky idea too. Awesome that you spent a month in Hueco! We live only five hours away now and still haven't been there. You gonna be at Red Rock during the Rendezvous?
