ALERT

FRICTION WALL BURIED IN TREES

During the last week of June, 2016 several storms with intense microbursts struck the Ellicott City, MD area toppling a number of very large trees directly onto the base of the main slab at Friction Wall (the starts of ALL the climbs on the main face are INACCESSIBLE). The trees vary in height from 40 or 50 feet to at least 90 feet and have diameters from 12 to 18 inches. AT LEAST 12 TREES BLOCK ACCESS TO THE BASE OF THE MAIN WALL. The way things stand now, it could be a decade or more before access is restored by nature. Of course by then all the bolts will have to be replaced.
