hey, i looking to get a new pair of anasazi's. A large group from my school recently got a bulk order in from telemark-pyrenees and all the five ten shoes were too small. Did five ten change its sizing or was this just a fluke? I'd like to find out before I order a pair.

It's possible that after spending enough time in your previous pair to wear them out, that you grew accustomed to the broken-in feel of them, and forgot how heinous they can be brand-new. So, they may have not changed at all.

Also, models within the brand vary WIDELY. I wear a size 3.5 or 4 in Anasazis, 2.5 in Huecos, and 5 in Dragons. Shoes are freaky like that. So if your school bulk-ordered something other than Anasazis (which would be my guess, since that's a pretty aggressive shoe for general grup use) then yes, it's a fluke, of something or another. Try on the Anasazis in the store before comitting to a pair.

Shoe geekin'!

Does it really matter ?

If you are a size 10, it's not like you are going to wear a size 10 climbing shoe...

I recommend going to a store and trying on the 5.10 shoes you want and when you know the size, place the order.

I've found 5.10 to be particularly inconsistent with their sizes even of the same model. I have a 8 and a 8.5 velcro that are essentially the same size. Similiarly, when I got my mocs I had to try on several of the same size before I found a pair that fit. That's 5.10 quality for ya!

For me it is kinda weird. My 5.10 shoes are the size as my normal shoes. I have the 5.10 accents. But I did have a pair of Borrels and they were different from my street shoes. But I like Lox say go to the store and try some on and then place the order.

I was trying on Saphires yesterday. There seems to be two models that MEC was carrying. I tried on one pair, was a size 38.5, which was much bigger than the size 39 I tried (I couldn't get the 39s on my feet, the 38.5's fit great). The only real difference I could find was with the little jems on the tounges. One was plastic, the other metal. How could they screw up that much with the same model??

Definitely try them on in the store. I have a pair of Anazzis (sp.) velcro size 9 1/2 and wear an 8 to 81/2 wide in a street shoe. My climbing shoes are very tight, but not so much that they cut off circulation. I also have a pair of Spires in size 8 1/2 which feel a little loose. The Anazzi's are lined so they tend not to stretch the same. At least that's been my experience.

Try some on. It's all about the shape of your foot. I wear 2 sizes down from my reguler shoes. It sounds like everyone else is different. I don't reccomend just guessing what size you wear and ordering some. I've done that before with some Red Chili's and it didn't really work out too well.

hey--
five.tens really did not work for me either...i thought they ran seriously small. I would try La Sportiva. I think it may indeed be your foot shape as five.tens do work for so many other ppl.

Dude your shoes are supposed to be small. I just got a new pair myself, yesterday actually. and i barely got my shoe on and it hurt worse then my mocasyms when they were new. and if that isn't bad my friend got a new pair and had to use binners int he loops and pull on the for like 20 mins before his foot went in, then it was funny watching him get them off. but they do stretch a little so don't despair. They should hurt.

Shoe companies DO change their sizing from year to year, even for the same model - probably to "improve" the fit. I am not sure about 5.10. But I have 2 pairs of Scarpa Dominators that were made in different years. They look almost identical and are the same size (41.5), but the one pair is definitely smaller and more curved than the other.

The 1/2 in a shoe size refers to the width of the shoe. So a shoe that is size 10 1/2 is not longer then a size 10, it is the same length, it is just wider.

I'm no Al Bundy, so correct me if I'm wrong.

marxist, when you say that you have bought 4-5 pairs of the same shoe in the same size but they are actually different sizes, are you comparing a new pair to a used pair? Shoes stretch alot and may account for the size difference.

I'm not sure how 5.10 produces their shoe but with companies like La Sportiva they are handmade and on thier site it says that becuase they are handmade no two boots are alike and the sizes may vary.

Hey, I realize that the best way to get a fit is to try them on, but I'm kinda locked in the bubble that is Hanover, NH, and there are no stores within a reasonable distance that carry the model. I'm kind of stuck ordering online, and I've been using other people's relatively new shoes to gauge my size in anasazi's (besides, they don't stretch much anyway). Thanks for your input, but I might have to hold off on the shoes until i get home for break (i won't need them up here until then anyway).

I had to look at a map to see where Hanover was. Buying shoes mail order is kinda risky. But I suppose you will only have to pay extra shipping costs if you can return shoes that don't fit. How far is too far for you to go for shoes? The Boston Rock Gym in Woburn, MA has Anasazi's. It should be about 1-1/2 hour drive from you. But call to see if they have the right sizes for you to try.

I wear a size 10 in running shoes (adidas and saucony). I wear a size 10 in the Velcros. And so you know I love a super tight shoe, I had to size up 3 times (started with 8.5) even climbing in 9.5 I thought my foot was going to break they were so tight...keep in mind that they are not going to stretch. That is why they use the synthetics and the lining. It is better than buying a size 8 hoping that they will stretch to a perfect fit.

I'm a poor starving college student at Dartmouth College. I have no car, and asking a friend to drive hours for me to get shoes would not go over well. I'm kinda stuck to mail and internet.

I know of her (i've seen her name on several mass emails), but haven't talked to her personally.
