Today I was about to go climbing at the gym, when I went to pick my backpack off the ground I pulled a muscle in my back. Can you believe that the pack didn't way more than 10lbs. I feel like the biggest wuss ever. Its right behind my shoulderblade and I can barely move my right arm. Has this happened to anyone else? Sure, of course the pack was about 50 lbs... Suck it up! Stretch it out and climb the hell out of it! duskerhu

I pulled a muscle in my neck twisting around in my chair to get something out of the fridge once. It hurt for days! It was stooo-pid!

Like they tell you... Bend the knees. Even a small weight can hurt you back.

alot of times with people who climb especially bolder you caus a series of micro injuries that manifest into a full blown injury when doing something small (straw that broke the climbers back) in the past few months ive heard of a serious wrist and shoulder injury both from turning wrenches and not especially hard

i have done that before. you do something really small and pull a muscle, or twist it the wrong way. most of the time it happens to me in my neck or right between my shoulder blades.

I used to pull this same muscle all the time in high school when i was a swimmer. I had a docter though that would give me a cortizone shot and then i would feel better. Boy what i would give to have that doctor again. [ This Message was edited by: justindonnell on 2003-01-24 16:24 ]

I pull the same muscle in my back about every two months. Usually it is reaching into the car and grabbing my pack. Go figure.

Rest otc pain meds and ice. If it is too intense and lasts more than a couple of days then get thy butt to your Dr. for a muscle relaxer if you can take them.

I suffered from "pack syndrome" as well. All I did was reach over and pick up a completely empty backpack. Had to lay on the ground a couple of hours before I could move. My partner had to carry all my heavy stuff out, which was some consolation.

Tossed my back with a sneeze. Pinched nerves and all. The only thing besides my wife rubbing it out that makes me feel good is hanging from some rock or the patio cover just to stretch it out a bit.
