just climb harder than ever so you are in great pain the next day. and try to learn new technique. also try to find out what level you are climbing at so its easier to pick routes to do.

I went to my first competition, begginer level, and placed 5th overall. Just make sure you climb alot before the day of the competion but allow enough rest b4 the comp for your muscles to recover. Just have fun at the competition, don't worry about winning or beating other people, soak up the atmosphere and use it to your advantage. Depending on how your comp is setup, it's good to climb at that gym b4 the comp and during the comp, watch the other climbers climb the routes first b4 you tackle it.

-my 2 cents

make sure that if you are watching someone do a route that you are similer in size. i find that if i watch someone who is 2 times as big as me or half my size climb i try there beta and screw up.
