No place better than Bishop, at least that I have been to. Joe's Valley is a lot of fun as well.

Biship is like Hueco, but really spread out and full of choss. Make the 17 hour drive to Texas. You will thank me for it. And if you can't.. go to Biship. It will make your trip to Hueco in the future WAY BETTER. lol. Do you climb v3? If so, I'll post a list of Biship classics to pad your ticklist with.

Joshua tree is good to if you are going by yourself the happys are good, the buttermilks are way better climbing, but a lot harder and not as many people. check out the Bachar boulders to, my fav mini boulering area hueco tanks if you can deal with the red tape Priest Draw in flagstaff is some of the most unique bouldering you will find anywhere(horizontal limestone). It tends to be pretty hard and you need a partner and a local to show you the beta. It is the most beta intensive place i have been to d

At that time of the year, from Colorado I would go to Hueco for a 10 day trip - it's a no-brainer! Of course one nice thing about Bishop is that you can do it as a road trip with stops at Moab and Ibex on the way. But 10 days is really short so personally if I was going to Bishop I would blast it all the way there in one push. Same with Hueco. If you were going longer the trip West is definitely fun as you can spend a couple of days at various places along the way. Moab -> Joes Valley -> Ibex -> Bishop D'oh I just re-read the original post "Leaving from LA" sort of escaped me the first time around - lol. Sounds like a J-Tree->Vegas->Bishop sort of option then. Or perhaps a J-Tree->Flagstaff,Az->Hueco trip. Where are you ending the trip ? Back in LA ? [ This Message was edited by: zzsean on 2003-02-05 18:25 ]

from LA I'd have to 2cd or 3rd or whatever Bishop. In fact I'm heading that way myself soon. Perhaps I'll see you at the Pit. (blue toyota, OR plates. -the guy with sore tips not sending anything and wishing he had been pulling down all winter instead of just starting up.) thanks for the tick list --- making my tips sweat.

Bishop is by far the closest good bouldering, but you might freeze your arse off. Preist Draw will be too cold too. You could check out the bouldering in Queen Creek, but if you're going that far you might as well go to Hueco. I can give you a tick list up to V8 if you want. The weather should be perfect there.

lol. My point was that many of the grades in biship are soft. If you can pull v3, do Serenghetti. Spray about being a v5 climber. Seriously... if you want good boldering, you could go to Biship and have to deal with the unrestricted crowds. Come to Hueco and tour classic problems for 10 days while livin' it up, Texas style. Days off in Juarez. Donkey show. Really...

If you do go to Bishop...check out the Druid Stones, 45 minute aproach, but the sights are worth the hike. No crowds up there either, but be sure to bring a guide book, well developed problems are spread out.

listen...if you wanna come to bishop, you let me know far enough in advance, ill make sure you dont see another climber during youre whole trip...lox just doesnt believe it everyone thinks the bishop area is climbed out, but i gotta tell you, FAs are here and they are all over. mostly quality, and mostly quiet. DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE!!! the temps right now are absolutely perfect...even a bit warm at times. were talking tanks and tees the past two weeks. tis golden... actually...come to think of it, bishop sucks. theres too many people, the temps are freezing, the rock is choss, and the climbings mediocre at best...go to texas.
