Who thinks that RC.com needs to provide us with free e-mail?

Pay up Stingy McStingster. This site offers too much for free as it is. Dave

I don't really care if I get free email from rc.com, there are plenty of other places to get free email. I say use the money for other stuff and go get your email from somewhere else.

who really cares? Don't we all have an alternate email address anyways? It's not the biggest deal in the world, it's just an offer for those who'd like to have an rc.com email address.

I think the email idea is OK. I spend several hours each day logged on to the site and I think it would boost my workplace productivity if I didn't have to surf back and forth between rc.com and yahoo.

All I am saying is that it would be nice to give someone your email address with rc.com on the end of it. It would just give the site some exposure.

I gave the site some exposure, but they made me close my trenchcoat.

It is nice, but several thousand email accounts costs us $$$. Why should we pay for your email account ??? If you make it a good enough reason, I'll pay the $10 out of my pocket for you.

I give out my email address almost everyday, why wouldn't you want more people to find out about the site?

I give out RC.com stickers almost everyday I climb, and they go on cars that travel to many crags. Better "exposure". And, even I pay for that. Not good enough for me to pay for your email... Try again.

Quote:Why should we pay for your email account ??? If you make it a good enough reason, I'll pay the $10 out of my pocket for you. I'm not one to b--ch and mone about $10. I'd even pay it if... I weren't so lazy. But if you are serious; Because... I send and recieve a minimum of 10-15 emails a day, half of which are from or to climbers. I know them via my gym, the crags, other internet message boards, internet photography rings, etc. Many of which would be considered "a figure" among the climbing community (eg. gym owner, outdoor advertiser, gear shop owner, guidebook author, climbing bbs owner, etc), and many of which have never heard of rc.com but would have if I had it on the end of my email extension. Plus, it would be easier for my professors in school, family members, and friends to type in and remember andy_lemon@rockclimbing.com than harleydavidson_usi@hotmail.com And this doesn't have anything to do with the email but, I purchased 7 stickers a year ago. I recieved them in the mail and not even a week later I recieved another 7 stickers in the mail with a letter from Trevor reading as follows, "Sorry, I didn't remember if I sent these to you". So what did I do with my extra 7 stickers that I didn't pay for? I gave them to climbers who stuck them on their car. Andy [ This Message was edited by: andy_lemon on 2003-02-07 13:47 ]

p.s. Another reason I haven't payed for the email is that I'm saving up for the fancy coffee mug so I can drink out of it in the cafe down the street from my house. I love the coffee shop and the chicks that are in it!

Andy, you claim that you regularly discourse with 10-15 people half of which are climbers, daily via email. Some of whom are big in the climbing community. Forgive me for stating the obvious, but wouldn't it be just as easy to include in your email "hey check this cool site out" as it would to shake down rradam and trevor for free email? If your hotmail account is too difficult for profs to remember than you should consider getting a new account that's easier to remember with a site that offers free web-based email. If a site offers such a service, usually they have another source of income and can afford to do, unlike rc.com. I'm not trying to get in a fight about it with anyone, but it's $10 dudes. Why would you want free e-mail from here? This is a rock climbing site, you goof. You want free e-mail? Then go to Yahoo, Hotmail, MSN, or one of the many other places that offer it. Trevor gives us enough "free" stuff.

Yahoo charges $20 a year so that you can access your "free" yahoo account from outlook or other pop3 clients. So i figure half the price for the same service plus @Rockclimbing.com is a lot cooler than any yahoo address. Keep up the good work guys!
