Anyone want to get outside? or inside? I currently climb 1-2 times a week at a gym (5.9 solid...5.10 - 5.11 some routes.) and climb 2-3 times a week at my home bouldering cave. I have two partners with extremely rough schedules and want to find anyone (as long as they are safe) who is more flexible.

I'm surprised you haven't thought of the obvious: BOULDERING. In fact you should boulder even if you do have a partner, not because it is a last resort.

Uh, that would be the same thing as quitting climbing.

Give up? I thought the moderaters would'nt let us use those words. Was it Churchill who said,"Never, never, never quit." I'm a ways away but I'd rope up with you any time or boulder etc.. Warmth is around the bend!
That'll help us all. Peace,
Mike

I am going to give up looking for another partner, not climbing. Yes I do a little bouldering, I have a 14' x 14' bouldering cave in my basement. I even climb at the dreaded gym twice a week. I also just got back from A combo trip to the San Juans in Colorado...............Ice climbing in Silverton and an alpine ascent of Engineer. So I do keep busy................. but would love to find another hard core climber who is better than myself, Its the best way to push yourself.
P.S. I am not a 5.13 or 5.14 climber either, more like a solid 5.9 or 5.10 climber
So if anyone wants to climb let me know.

I have thought about moving but I own a business and was born here so its tough when you have a lot of roots.
My brother lives in Colorado and every time talk to him or he sends me an E-mail he ends it by saying " remember I live where you vacation" then I tell him how much he sucks because ........................HES RIGHT.
But he still sucks.

rocknut1:

DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!!

Is not about what THEY want or not, is about what YOU want. If you want to climb, CLIMB, if boulder takes away your pain, do it, if not, then go on, seek partners or top rope solo, get to know new people. But don't, don't give up, thats not fair. Don't let their boring lives beat you.

I used to climb at the gym with a lot of people that just got there to talk, not to climb, I quited and started climbing outdoors, then started to know climbers with the same problem.

It happens, my friends only want to go to fridays and stay there until mindnight. (fine for them but that's not what i want for my life.)

I am going to give up looking for another partner, not climbing I'm not nuts. I have had alot of contacts but they are all weinies. Like lets go climb and then don't even show up or say they can climb and you have to show them how to tie their shoes. Which I do not mind if they tell me this up front. I set up a climb with a guy at the gym who said he was a 5.12+ climber and when I met climbed with him he couldnt even make it up a 5.7 warm up? thats not a guy I would trust with my life tied to the end of a rope.

I would love to climb in the Palisades. I live in Southeast Wisconsin and that would only be a few hour drive for me. What type of climbing, sport, trad, top rope? If you want to climb some weekend or weekday let me know. E-mail me at slausfam@execpc.com

Totally! Look at Joe's pictures, he can't climb his way out of a wet paper bag!

You should also tell 'jgill' how the rope gets up there.

I have the same issue only I'm on the other end of the crazy schedule, if you trust your own anchors, and you trust your gear, and most importantly yourself and judgement, you don't need a partner .
I've gotten into the habit of soloing on fixed rope(s), totally safe a genuine rush. No cat calls or critisisms, or unwanted-needed beta on YOUR climb.
I don't do it too often though I kinda like concentrating on the climbing and not worrying about my belayer.

Wait a minute.. you're living in S. Eastern Wisconsin. There a lots of people to climb with around here. There are two ways you could go about it.. one, climb at your gym and meet people. Climb on specific nights so you're seeing the same people. Granted, gyms only hold some true outdoor climbers (what, you mean this isn't rockclimbing? I'm supposed to do this outside?!), but they're around. Talk to different people, you'll find people that are in the same boat as you. I've met a ton of people through Adventure Rock (even though I work there) through climbing. Or, two.. go to the Devil's Lake GTG. There should be a lot of people running around there, and I'm sure you'll meet some people on here that would be willing to get together again to climb. Heck, just go to Devil's Lake period. You could climb by yourself with a pad (Devil's Lake Bouldering scene has really been growing), at least talk to people.

I would say that we could get together and climb sometime, but my schedule is crazy. Between trips, climbing at the lake (when I get a second), and teaching/guiding.. I have no idea when I have a second to myself, much less commit to something else.

Hope that helps a bit.. but, your always welcome to PM me to see if I'll be around the weekend.

I have rock climbing partners, an ice climbing partner and alpine climbing partners. However it seems that when your looking for another partner only the beginners call and they are hesitant to go and don't show up and say they can do this and actually have no idea what they are doing. If you work at Adventure Rock I know you. I climb up there twice a week, climb at the Lake Bi-weekly and climb at home three times a week. So its not like I don't climb.
I just want to get better and push myself. My current partners are good climbers but do not want to lead climb and are not hardcore. I am going to climb a bit with Mikey this summer now thats hes back in town......hes a guy that can push you. See ya

Mikey is super cool. Glad to hear that he's back.. although, I haven't seen him running around yet.

It sounds like you have things "situated", but if you need another parter, don't hesitate to say something..

I am still looking for another climbing partner. If you live in south east Wisconsin and want to climb indoors at Adventure Rock in Brookfield or set up weekend climbs outdoors let me know. I will climb with anyone as long as they are safe.

Well, at least you didn't do what I did. I decided I was devoting too much time to it (nobody comment on that please  ) and so to keep myself from robbing other activities, I gave away my gear. Free. All of it. Put in a huge box and mailed it (without even charging postage) away to some stranger who never said thanks. And then...I changed my mind about spending too much time on it.

Hope that makes you feel better.
