i am not sure if that is still the case, but due to state cutbacks..stateparks were closed a few days to cut down on operating costs. that was last year i thnk could still be the case. www.seclimbers.org would know for sure

The Flatliner site said they were closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and had a link to the seclimber site for verification. I checked the seclimbers.org site, and none of the postings about Foster Falls access were working. I then went to the Tenn website for South Cumberland Recreation Area: http://www.state.tn.us/environment/parks/socumb/ and there is nothing on that site about closures. They do list phone numbers, which I tried (931-924-2980), and spoke with one of the rangers (very nice women named Sandra). There are NO closures regarding climbing at Foster Falls. It was a rumour last year, and it seems to have been started again. Once again, there are no closures regarding climbing at Foster Falls.

The state re-opened all state parks that fell under that closure order last year. It wasn't a rumor, Foster Falls was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays for a while, but no longer.

If there's a trailday on march 15 does that mean there will be a million peeps there? I don't mind helping out but this would affect the camping situation for sure. o.k.

Not really, a lot of people would go home after the trail day is over, since a majority of those who'll show will be from Chattanooga.

Thanks for the info guys - is there anywhere close to Fosters that we can camp (we are trying to avoid the $10 per night per tent fee)? Thanks

there is free primative camping at the father adamz camp site. it is about a 6-8 min walk in from the lot. make sure to fill out a permit at the kiosk and leave part on your car. also, no camping in the parking lot and no alcohol or drugs. they will look through your site, so dont even try it!
