I was wondering just exactly how high el capitan is.. I tried searching but all I find is route beta etc etc. but they NEVER give the height of any of the bigwall routes anywhere..

The nose is roughly 3000 ft give or take a couple hundred depending on the source.

El Capitan rises to 7570 ft Sentinel Dome elevation is 8120 ft Half Dome has an elevation of 8840 ft

The Nose route doesn't go anywhere near the summit of El Capitan. In fact, none of the climbing routes go all the way to the top. They end on the rim, which is several hundred feet below the dome-like summit. http://www.rockclimbing.com/photos.php?Action=Show&PhotoID=7298
