Hey, Russ! I found some carbon fiber tubing for my portaledge. And it was CHEAPER than cro-moly tubing! Some guy had some blem/overstock from a project. Basically, I got $600 worth of mandrel-wound carbon fiber tubing for $80.00. It'll save about three pounds over steel, but be stiffer and stronger (and more brittle). I'm still trying to find the Holy Grail: pultruded carbon+glass tubing that is affordable. You'd think that one of the bazillion fiberglass tubing makers would swap out a few spools with carbon fiber.

Russ emailed me this morning to say that he is in LA right now, and back in Bishop on Wednesday when he says the portaledge beds are supposed to be ready. Thank goodness.

Russ, second me on those wanting a "Got sack?" t-shirt. I need to earn it first, but a batch of those might sell really well. Bring them to the PBC? Ed
