Apon visiting the gendarme, at seneca rocks, WV i bought 2 shirts. the first one said "if you die we split your gear" and the second one said "Most sports only require one ball" and there was a picture of 2 balls and a climber. Have you seen any funny climbing shirts, if so tell me what they say, even if they are home made?!?! and also ideas for funny climbing shirts !

I have two shirts that are somewhat funny. One i bought in jackson hole and it says "in most places getting this high is illegal" and it has a picture of a guy climbing an overhang. The other i bought at a climbing store outside Smith Rocks it says "Redpoint Excuse checklist" then gives like 10 excueses like "its too hot" "it too cold" "its too creasy" "too many people are talking" "these shoes suck" "this rout sucks" "a nubbin must've blown off" "i hate climbing cuz i'm short" "I hate climbing cuz i'm tall" "I hate climbing cuz i'm lame"

sport, trad, bouldering, mountaineering... we hit up climbing in oregon, cali, nevada, utah, and idaho pretty cheap if you do what i did: buy a couple of white hanes t-shirts... coupla bucks special paper for a printer that can be used to transfer image to cloth... ~$10 design away! "wicked sick hard, dude" right center on the front... BIG block letters =)... maybe I'll post a picture edited to add picture http://darkwing.uoregon.edu/~pbeebe/tshirt.jpg

the quote was more like: "There are only three sports; motor racing, bullfighting and mountaineering. The rest are merely games" BTW I used to work at a gym and we had a pretty good ad guy designing shirts. "Screw gravity" "No refs, no teams... just balls" "the biggest boulder is in your shorts" (didn't care much for this one..) I can't remember any more..

"There are but three true sports--bullfighting, mountain climbing, and motor-racing. The rest are merely games." - Hemingway. Sorry I didn't perform the 33 second google search before.

Actually I'm pretty sure Hemingway did say that. I know I've read the quote before, I'll check "The Quotable Climber" and let you know. Mike [Edit] I thought "The Quotable Climber" would have been a good reference but since you obviously know alot about Hemingway, I'll bet on you. [/Edit]

I'll save you the trouble: ""There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely games." This is one in a long list of quotations mysteriously attributed to Ernest Hemingway. While the general public seem to agree that this is in fact a Hemingway quotation, scholars have some reservations and for good reason. The early Hemingway did not believe that bullfighting was a sport. For him it was a tragedy. See his October 20, 1923 article titled "Bullfighting A Tragedy" reprinted in *By-Line: Ernest Hemingway Selected Articles and Dispatches of Four Decades* edited by William White. Hemingway reiterates his beliefs regarding the tragedy of bullfighting in his 1932 book, *Death in the Afternoon.* All best, Josh Silverstein Webmaster Timeless Hemingway http://www.timelesshemingway.com Speed Address: http://www.timeh.com"

I have a great shirt I bought at the PBC a couple years back. It was a take on the "No Fear" silliness and it sported a "$#!+ Bricks" logo on the front and the back went like:"40 ft run out above a plecebo placement to an RP seam, rope drag from hell, only 20 minutes of daylight left, and it's starting to rain" "$#!+ Bricks, when you can taste the fear"
