Just curious as to what people use to pad the floor under their home climbing walls (indoor).

given that i built my wall in the garage over a concrete floor, i needed some good padding to protect up to 10' falls off the ceiling.
i've assembled the following:
base padding of carpet pad scraps (free)
2 full-size mattresses found on the curb (free)
Bunch of foam scraps (old sofa seats, etc) from "Ye Olde Foam Shoppe" ($40)
(and i'm not kidding about that name - the place really does exist!)

System has been working fine for me, I'm mainly just interested in others solutions. Particularly the cheap ones! :D :D

Edited for clarity

We live in a college house, and there was 4 or 5 mattresses left here in the basement. Free padding for the woodie.

Trying to fold an old flimsy one in half and put backpack straps on it for makeshift crashpad. Will post later to inform you of the results.

Cordless Big Boy mats...they're oh-so-plush.

i think he forgot to mention "cheap" is a criteria... try old mattresses, foam scraps, crash pads u already have, futons are great! big crash pads like the big cordless ones are like $300 or something insane like that... if u are rich, go ahead! but i (and i think most people) would rather spend the $300 on better holds and and a bigger woodie than on padding, if u can help it.

I've got a 12cm thick 6'x12' gymnastic landing mat. Much cheaper per square footage than the Cordless or other big pads.
