They aren't a real aid climber if they don't lead. I'm sure some young people have jugged up walls. This is way awesome! I would love to see someone haul a kid.

Perhaps this should be in the trivia forum, but does anyone happen to know the age of the youngest climber to do a wall ?
(Doesnt have to be on lead, just the youngest to send an aid route.)

Tori Allen jugged up with Hans Florine to become the youngest girl, I think.
As for leading, I don't know, but Chris Macnamara got a pretty early start, I think.

Chris did Zenyatta Mondatta when he was 15. Him and his bro did Zodiac a year later. His brother was like 13 or 14 I think.

I'm going to solo some stuff this spring and fall. Nothing over 8 pitches though. I will be 16. I don't consider this to be young. But it will likely be A4.
I started aid climbing a while back. I did A3 stuff when I was 15. C1 and C2 stuff is pretty easy. Did that when I was 14. Started aid climbing on small nails in trees in my backyard when I was 12-13. None of those nails would have held a fall. I fell from 25 feet once when a beak blew out of the tree and nailed the ground. It was really funny. It didn't even hurt.

According to the Squamish guidebook, Hamish Fraser soloed University Wall at the age of 14! That was back in 1980 too. U-Wall is a clean aid climb on the Chief.

Me and my partner are doing the nose this summer ...we will both be 17...so maybe thats like the youngest combined...given a handycap because we live in PA

My buddy Ryan Sayers began aiding A1-A2 at age 13 or so, I think. He's never done a Yosemite wall, just CO and UT stuff.

I've hauled a kid before. Good hauling practice, although I think my daughter enjoyed it more than I did. I guess I can try it again when I want to learn PTPP's Better Way.
I don't know if he'd be the youngest wall climber, but there's a 12 year old kid who climbs at the local gym who has climbed the Nose twice. At least one of the times it was in a day with HF. Oh, and I doubt he played jug-monkey the whole time. He leads 5.13 in the gym, and he climbs a lot.

Scott Cory went up the Nose with Hans et al. when he was ~10ish. He went back the next year and did it in about half a day with Tommy Caldwell and Beth Rodden. Even if all he had to do was jug a fixed line (I'm not sure whether or not he did more...he may have), I still think jugging 30 pitches at that age is pretty tough.
As far as the youngest on hard aid...I've never heard of anyone younger than Chris.
I think I would have to get maternal and stand in the way of my 15 year old (if I had one that is) climbing A4 on El Cap. Is anyone else stodgy like me this way?
