What I listen to before climbing depends on my mood at the time, but I usually like Metallica, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Rush, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin... well it really depends :D As for my favorite phrase, it's my signature

I never know--sometimes Ministry pumps me to no end, on my way to just one fix. Today tho I was listening to a little Lester Young (sweet old jazz sax). So I'm a gemini freak--who you going to complain to, me or me? Frank Zappa has coined alot of my faves, however one i read recently comes to mind: "By the time imagination is finished with a fact, believe me, it bears no resemblance to a fact!" -Philip Roth Peter who owns the gym says: "Don't be stupid--Climbing can kill you!" love that guy  -p

Depends a lot, but in general for road trip music I'll generally bring the following (not a complete list by any means): (in no particular order) Allman Brothers Coldplay John Mayer Don Mclean (American Pie is a requirement for all road trips over 4 hours) Chemical Brothers Moby Wyclef Jean Lauryn Hill Fugees The Cure Bob Marley Prodigy Beatles U2 David Gray Red Hot Chili Peppers They Might Be Giants Carl Orff (Carmina Burana) Aaron Copland (Appalacian Spring) (guess when and where I listen to this) Robert Schumann (Arabesque in C) And the ultimate climber song: Afroman "Because I got High" cheers

Oh yeah, fav quotes: (that I can think of off the top of my head) Profanity is the linguistic crutch of the inarticulate mortherf#cker. Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from surviving bad judgement. Lottery: A tax on people who do not understand mathematics. A friend will help you move. A really good friend will help you move a body.

What kind of music? Usually some alternative stuff, the latest on the radio. Maybe Linkon Park or Skillet if it's in my CD player. Usually I'm sitting in traffic so I am just going over in my head what I'm planning to do. 8) Fav quote..."It dosn't matter what side you start on, it's always the wrong one."

Dave Matthews Band, Coldplay..not climbing specifically, but that's primarily what I listen to (interspersed with everything from System of a Down to David Gray). Quotes? See my sig (author-me). I heard a guy say once, "I climb just as hard or harder than anyone else I know...I just do it on easier routes." I also like "Let me show you how to make this look difficult".

In reply to: polka always gets me riled up. When I'm driving to the rock I'm bouncing off the walls. (avoiding fellow motorists of course) so I go with Pink Floyd. If I listened to Aerosmith, or AC DC I'd have no energy by the time I hit the wall.

It's all about Jungle and Drum and Base for me when it comes to actualy climbing. LTJ Bukem Roni Size Dj Shadow Dj Krush Fila Brazillia Jurasic 5 <--Not DnB or Jungle..but wicked good never the less Tribe <--Read above Portishead Lamb St. Germain etc..etc..etc.. No need for lyrics well i climb...just a good beat. Pre-climb stuff..donno really..i'm one for something down-tempo. It's not about getting pumped, it's about getting centered. As for favorite phrase: "To live in fear, is to be caged by ones own self.... so fuck-it and climb it anyways" The last part I just add in, when it comes to climbing. The first half, is like my mantra. ~>Ulysses

On the way to the crag I usually listen to something to relax the mind. ie. Pink Floyd, String Cheese Incident, Wu-Tang Clan, REM, Grateful Dead, Beatles, Alice in Chains....and others. Favorite quote is my rc.com quote along with one that my friend made up one night : "f*ck everything!"

There's nothing like a little Celine Dion to motivate you to the top of the pitch as fast as possible, so you can haul the blaster up and play frisbee with the CD.
