When your not climbing, are there any other sports you like to play. Believe it or not, i play golf. They actually go together quite well. One relaxes you and the other makes you intense. What other sports do climber do?? If any.

I'm also a downhill mountain biker. I find both require developed technique to prevent you from wiping out or falling.

i run. i find that running allows me to zone out and think about whatever may be on my mind. climbing, on the other hand, demands that i focus in and put any thing else out of my mind. for me, they complement each other. :D

cycling, road and mountian, they don't seem to compliment climbing well but the mtn bike keeps you outside.

I also started golfing way before I started climbing. Have you other golfers noticed a huge increase in distance when you're climbing regularly? Also do triathalons to stay in shape!

Mtn. Biking, Running, Adventure Racing (use the other two as training), Whitewater rafting, Weight Training, Karate, and my Sportbike a.k.a. crotch-rocket, which I usually ride TO the crag (RRG is about 2 hours away- with my gear packed neatly in a strap-down tail bag)... Oh, and trying to find enough days in the week to do all the things I enjoy... :D

I have been surfing a lot longer than climbing and if the conditions are right would always put surfing first. They are two very different activities but both have a very large mental aspect (especially surfing big waves) that I find very appealing. Both give you the oportunity to increase your physical and mental capabilities in amazing environments (getting barrelled is something everyone should experience, it is completely beyond description). The only probelm with surfing is trying to find enough time to go climbing.

Mountain biking, roller blading, snowboarding. But climbing is my favorite and I have not done anything but climb in the past 6 months. Now I have three weeks to do nothing since I just had my appendix removed.
