p.s. I have hopes that Wesley Clark will run and get the nomination. West Point graduate, Rhodes scholar, commander of NATO forces against Milosevic. He's got the credentials; he's not afraid to speak out against Bush and the republicans. He could be a powerful candidate with a lot of appeal, especially against militant conservatives who nonetheless lack any real military service.

In reply to: I think Al Sharpton is the most qualified.... Reminded me of a great line from Ted Nugent's book... "...yeah, and if Al's a reverend, I'm the Dalai Lama with a Glock."

though hillbily clinton would be the strongest runner Reverend Al is a democrat in its purest form(sorry 'bout that oxymoron) and could be depended on to stick to his morals (oops another oxymoron).

In reply to: Nor do I see an electable (or re-electable) Republican candidate. George W. Bush. Maybe you've heard of him. You may not think he's qualified, but he is very electable.

In reply to: Meanwhile, back in reality... reality? what's that? I actually know a bunch of hardcore republicans that are voting for whoever runs against bush, even if its their dog, because of the economy. hardcore rich republicans don't like losing lots of money on the stockmarket apparently.

In reply to: reality? what's that? It's where words have generally accepted definitions, not the made up definitions in "Martha's Dictionary". The context of a post gives it relevance. Do try to keep up. So, you know a bunch of "hardcore republicans" who would vote for John Edwards or Al Sharpton over GWB. Obviously, they're not "hardcore republicans". If they were, they would understand market cycles. More than likely, they're just a bunch of trust fund kids, who gained control of their fortunes at the market top.

And 3- yeah, ok, so I don't know any old money. I do however know people who have been staunch republicans since well before the 80's and they are pissed. As all things, the president gets blamed for whatever happens economically. And unfortunately for Bush, he's getting blamed and was only half successful at diverting attention from the economy. Also, he's a trickle down theorist...last time I checked, trickle down economics hadn't ever worked, it only widens the margin between the very rich and the very poor. It was going to happen to any president who took over after clinton, republican, democrat, or whatever. So Bush is being blamed for incompetence, and the next pres will hit an upswing and be lauded. It happens. Personally, I don't think there are very many people capable of doing a really good job as president. Everyone has an agenda...really, we elect an agenda and not a man. We'll see who talks the best talk when the elections roll around.
