Looking for some advice.

Never been to Black Mtn or J-Tree. Will be roadtripping over Memorial Day and was going to hit one of the two areas.

Temps in J-Tree are looking pretty hot. Any suggestions?

Which has better camping, access, problems? Do I need 4 wheel drive in either?

As of this last weekend, temps in Josh have been incredibly perfect; in fact, you need an extra layer in the shade. Whether this weather will last for another 2 weeks is anyone's guess, but it has been the best winter and spring in many years (mild temps). Lots of wildflowers last few weeks too.

I presume from your question that you are probably just bouldering, since Black Mountain has few routes worth a special trip. If you go to Josh and haven't picked it up, get the new Josh Bouldering guide by Robert Miramontes, you will be glad you did.
