While traveling through Europe a few years ago we hit an area Furkapass in Switzerland. There is an excellent climbers hut there, and easy to access from Chamonix. Sorry, I dont remember the highway. The area is full of alpine rock, good approaches and excellent routes. Most are mixed, with belay stations, though Im sure there are more adventurous lines as well. I have photocopies of some topos, if you are still looking. The hut is: Refuge Furka 2436m Ch-6491 Realp (URI) phone: 041-887-0154
