Ok everyone... have at it! Here is where you can all spray about that sick 5.12 lead you just sent after only 4 months of climbing... and no one will even bring up the obvious fact (which completely discredits the ascent) that it was in a gym! Here you can tell us all of your latest road trip out west, without having all the obnoxious people with LIVES telling you how jealous we all are... Here you can brag about the shiny new piece of gear you bought, or about your first rope, and forgo the annoyingly numerous "congragulations" posts that are always mixed wiht jealousy and a slight disgust at having the purchase shoved in everyone's faces... Here newbies can brag about how good they are after so little time without having to face up to reality and real rock! Here hardmen can pollute the web with their elitist attitudes without having to deal with people who are less experienced, yet obviously more skilled (and more humble), climbers! Come one, come all, and let the spray begin! *NOTE* This is not in any way to discourage people from making productive posts related to some of these topics elsewhere.... a good trip report/photo essay, or a question about new gear, is completely appropriate - this forum is for the "I just got my first rope" or "I just sent my first 5.11!" posts.

Cool... I'm a .14 climber. Next on my ticklist will be to get the FA of the first .15b... 4.15b that is. But no need to "rap bolt" it, I'll just solo it with a welcome mat for a crash pad. I got style. But I think I need to train for it. Got any tips ??? :?

* Here hardmen can pollute the web with their elitist attitudes without having to deal with people who are less experienced, yet obviously more skilled (and more humble), climbers!* I'd like to hear your example of the "climber" who is more skilled than the elitist hardman...lemme guess...are foam pads involved?

let me not detract from the more helpful, less elitist hardmen on board here at RC.com... i was only referring to a number of "hardcore" 5.9 tradsters who have been climbing for 500 years blah blah blah...

I bouldered around on the trunk of a tree and some branch stumps and worked out on my bachar ladder in the backyard. GT Hey! It's all you can do when you're dumb enough to move to Florida

About time for a spray forum  ! Now can you PLEASE make one for shoe threads only. Those are even more common - and equally annoying - as the "I lead a 5.11 in the gym so I can kick all your asses" threads. Or at least any thread with "shoe" in the title can be immediately bumped to a shoe forum that has at least 1 zillion posts already that answer the same "are Mad Rocks any good" questions  ? BTW so I can be part of the sprayfest...I put a rope on my boyfriend's balcony and jugged his porch this weekend - booyah!!!!!

so, do you think my four year old son, strutting around the crag, sticking out his chest and proclaiming, "i climbed a 5.5!" and then giving me unsolicited beta on my climb would count as spray? or can we chalk it up to juvenile antics and newbie ignorance? :D jen

I just started climbing last week but I nailed (or sent as I am told the term is called) this 5.14g at my local gym. The guy who sets the roots has been climbing for almost a year so he knows what he is doing. I imagine that it is harder than climbing outside since you have to follow the tape, but am not sure since I don't want to waste my time outside. One of these days though I am going to learn how to belay so I can use my 100% safety proof shiny new gregory from that company pretzel. By the way I am not sure if anybody can tell me if my Madrock shoes are holding me back from climbing that 5.14h I have tried but fallen on. Are these shoes any good? he he he

I soloed a 47 pitch route, all of it 5.17g friction, using toes, knees, hands and forehead. And I did it in Van's "Jim Greco" skate shoes. It was the hillside street leading up to my house last Saturday night.

I "climbed" Indian Rock in Berkeley on Saturday night, by moonlight, reasonably inebriated... How much does that increase the grade? (In my drunken state, a mile walk from my friend's house turned into a trek and an easy scramble turned into a climb :D )

"Niagara Falls!!!" I have invented a new spray parametric! I did the math: if College Rock (which I live within 3 miles of) averages 30 feet high, and I climb at CR avg. 2 times a week, completing an avg. 6 routes, and I've been climbing there every week since the last week in march, so figure 16 weeks, so far this season I've climbed 5670 vertical feet! Toprope and LAPS baby, yeah! ;-)

It's all you can do when you're dumb enough to move to Florida  I feel your pain man, that's all I can do around here too. I spent nearly half the day yesterday looking for something decent to climb around here. I found nothing. But the search goes on, eh? Hopefully both you and I can find something near where we live to climb.
