To: all the people who flame PTPP about taking too much stuff up the wall, going slow, etc., etc. http://www.cnn.com/2003/TRAVEL/07/15/sprj.st03.luxurycamping/index.html He's been ahead of that trend for years. Good job. edited to remove dumb spelling/typing mistakes

Bottom line: Its about Standards of Living. Yes I may be on Elcap or in C4, Do I choose not to smoke my Cohiba? Does my Talisker lay lonely? My fillet go rotten? Is smoked salmon and cream cheese heavier to haul? Or in PTPP case should He drink less than Molokai's finest? Nay, Enjoy Life, Love, Have fun, And All the best! bill

That article says nothing about paper-bag litter boxes... like the ascot, monocole, and affected haughty accent, a true sign of aristocracy and higher living.

It is sad that this young lad did not have access himself to a wet nurse. That warm comfort is quite reassuring to us all.

"Two 24" Alpine Climbing Ropes " In case anyone was wondering - the Smurfs DO rock climb! (How do you think they get into Gargamel's place??) (oops, this reply should have belonged in THAT thread - not like it matters - nothing of substance being posted anyways! haha) When do you think they will build actual cabin's on el cap?? So instead of bringing your portaledge, just climb to the cabin, swipe your credit card through the door to make your payment, and climb the next day.

Oh yay, what I love is big, fat gapers driving bigger, fatter RVs yelling at real nature lovers because their site doesn't have full hook ups and warm showers. It is CAMPING!!! Go stay in the damn Awahnee!!!!

I'm a little confused by the whole thing. Camping is a challenge, some people think that by stepping outside for a minute they've accepted a challenge. The RV allows them to get there in the comfort of their "home". It just goes to show how the modern american is so hell bent over consumption and ownership, they forget to breath the very air they set out to embrace. But oddly enough, they've only contributed to the slow decay of our natural resources. Just think: exhaust, disposable plastic utensils, excessive showering, etc. On the flip side, I say let them play. They are confined to the roads and trailer parks that litter the countryside. fortunately most of them are afraid to wander much further than the S*** pits in the campgrounds. Meanwhile I get lost on the cliffs or in the back country. It's the difference between the two most influential nature lovers of the modern era: Muir and Roosevelt... IMHO See you in the mountains!!!

The type of people in this article are the type that ruin experiences for others. When I hiked the Grand Canyon in a day down on trail and up another it was GREAT for the first 8 hours. Then these LAZY FUCKS on donkeys passed us on the trail. The "leader" said we were REQUIRED to let them pass, and that we couldn't pass them. He then proceeded to stop the group right in front of us for 10 minutes blocking the tiny trail. By the time they left I'm sure they'd heard enough of my calling them "fat lazy fucks" to tide them over for a while. Then, we had to follow the trail they were on which was then covered in copious amounts of piss and feces. I was livid and HATE people like that who ruin experiences for others. Take your luxury somewhere else... LIKE HOME!!! SINCERELY Josh

wow. one day i also hope to have a news publication that is as in touch with my hopes and dreams as cnn validate my climbing style and abilities. as we all know, the media and especially the movie industry are excellent ways to learn about good climbing techniques. now, time to pack my bag with nitroglycerin, and god willing i'll find enough grips and mountain dew to get me to the top of a challenging mountain somewhere.

Sad, and pathetic...all of the people I have spent 10 years living AWAY from are now closing the gap. Their solar powered vibrators will reverberate through the gentle stillness in no time. I guess its all just your take on it, maybe I should be happy the moron masses are "discovering" the outdoors, raise the general level of compassion and enlightenment...that sort or tripe. Instead I turn reactionary and will begin flinging my feces like a monkey.

When it comes to climbing walls, any fool can be uncomfortable. Kailua-Kona is overrated next to Moloka'i. Mahalo, mate! P.S. Will wonders never cease?
In reply to: "That article says nothing about paper-bag litter boxes... like the ascot, monocole, and affected haughty accent, a true sign of aristocracy and higher living." Hillary spelled "monocle" wrong. I'll be buggered. And so will she if I can catch her.
