Anyone have an update on Safe Harbor? I search the forums and the web but most of the stuff is dated about a year plus... Just wondering, or hoping if there is any update. Someone, actually a couple people (one was the lady and her husband that run the climbnasium) that there is a section of it open? Anyway, I've never been there but would like to check it out if anything is open. Thanks in advance.

There are locals that still climb there. That ticks me off personally. But if you're waiting for the PAC to do anything quickly, you'd better look elsewhere. They got them bouldering gem (Governor Stables) and they're happy.

I'd contact the Lancaster Climbing Club to find out an update on the situation.

Randy is correct that some locals do still climb there, despite the risks.

There previously was a point in time when the "Cemetary Wall" (I believe that's correct) was rumored to be open.

However, that is NOT the case now.

There are currently a lot of tensions with Norfolk-Southern (railroad company) in that area, in addition to the power plant security (think Barney Fife on the alert for terrorists).

By climbing there you risk tresspass charges, having your gear confiscated (it's happened), being detained by two groups of rent-a-cops, and finally the Susquehanna Regional cops (who just got additional staff and patrol budget).

I KNOW of one person (persoanlly) who was fined 300 bucks for trepassing. And the gear confiscation is still an urban legend to me.

Basically, staying out is our only hope for future access.

Rob H.-the AF guy told me there was supposed to be a meeting about a possible opening in the near future. The AF reg coordinator for that area Lonnie Whitcomb was heading the meeting and I think someone from the PAC. I never heard anything. Maybee the meeting is coming up.
