All,
I've posted below the email from the Wichita Mountains Climber's Coalition about the Narrows Trail Project in September on the weekend of 9/13-14. For more information go to the WMCC web site:

http://www.wichitamountains.org/

Or email Marion at:

wmcc-members@wichitamountains.org

This is a chance for us all to give back to the Refuge for the incredible climbing resource and unique natural environment that we enjoy, and to give back to the WMCC and Access Fund for helping keep the resource open to us, and to contribute to the positive relationship between the Refuge management and the climbing community.

Calling All Volunteers:

The WMCC's Narrows Trail Project 2003 is scheduled for Saturday and
Sunday, September 13th and 14th at the Wichita Mountains Wildlife
Refuge. The project is being sponsored by the Access Fund as one of its
official 2003 Adopt-a-Crag events.

This years effort will focus on making much needed repairs to the
switchback sections of the trail below Zoo Wall and above the second
crossing of West Cache Creek.

Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. each morning at Boulder Cabin at the
entrance to the Narrows. Work will last until 3 p.m. with a break for
lunch. The remainder of the day is open for climbing or hiking.

All necessary tools will be provided by the Refuge. Volunteers will need
to bring work gloves, water bottles, trail lunch, sunscreen and insect
repellent. Dress for the work and be prepared for the weather.

As a special reward for those participating in the project, the WMCC is
excited to announce that Refuge Manager Sam Waldstein has granted the
WMCC a Special Use Permit allowing volunteers to camp Friday and
Saturday nights without charge at the Fawn Creek Campground at the base
of Mt. Lincoln. For those of you who weren't around twenty years ago
when camping was allowed throughout the Refuge, this is a valuable
opportunity to experience the solitude and grandeur of camping in this
scenic area.

The success of this project is dependent on a good group of enthusiastic
volunteers. To join the effort, please reply to this email and include
the following information:

-Name(s)
-Address
-City, State, Zip
-Home Phone Number
-Work Phone Number
-Which days you're available to work
-Which nights you'll be camping

If you know of others who are interested in participating, please
forward this email to them.

Volunteers will receive additional information concerning the trail work
and camping arrangements at the beginning of September.

Please note, the WMCC's Fawn Creek camping permit is limited to 30
volunteers. Reservations will be made in the order in which volunteers
apply. Since the Fawn Creek Campground is a combination-locked special
use area, in order to secure a campsite and gain access to the area
volunteers must register at least 7 days in advance of the project.
