I've got Monday off for climbing and can't decide whether I should spend it at Rumney or Quincy Quarries. Haven't been to either yet, and and am pretty damned sick of this uber-rainy summer we're having in New England. Clearly, it's going to rain every day through Sunday. If it doesn't rain Monday, which area dries out quicker?

RUMNEY!!!!!!!!!! Don't waste your time at the quarries, it'll be brutally hot and almost no breeze. At Rumney you can take a dip if you get too hot, and the air is better up there. Just get up an hour and a half earlier.

Thanks Bonesz, but wouldn't the heat be kind of an advantage for drying out the crag?

Well, the quarries get more sun and don't tend to hold a lot of water at the top (thus less to run out through the face). However, if you're looking to climb hard, a lot of the stuff at Rumney doesn't get very wet to begin with (overhangs).

This weather sucks so bad it blows. It has rained here in vt every day for a freaking week. It was thick as soup all day today but hasent signifacantly pisssed yet so I went to the local crag and cranked out 5 solo laps on a 75 ft 5.7 that was pretty dry and then rock ratted a belay up a 5.8+ that was nicly dry :D 450 ft of climbing :D 8) :D Rumny will have a few dry lines between the soakers provideing it hasent rained in the last 6 hours but there will probobly be lots of folks trying to get on them? I sugest self mutilation

Thanks for the help! I hate to drive 2 1/2 hours to see a low flow waterfall with a couple of rocks sticking out of it.
