Les,

Hai and Candace pm'd me and said they would be there, but the pm reply is not working so I can't get back to them. You may want to keep an eye out for them too. And yea, Dann knows them. I plan to be at the campground around 11:00 or 12:00 too, but I am not sure which campground......I think we will do Shovel Point on Saturday and Pallisaide on Sunday......

See ya Sat or Sun at Palisaide or S.P.,

Alright, this is the plan for Les and I this weekend...

We're driving up Fri. morning and meeting at Northern Exposure Campground (218-226-3324 near Silver Bay) around 10 or 11am. We'll then go to Shovel Point and climb. Originally we were going to do Carlton Peak Fri. but Jeff wants to do Carlton too and can't make it til Fri. night.

Saturday we'll be at Palisade Head and Sunday morning we'll break camp and hed up to Carlton peak for the day before coming back home that evening.

Anyone is welcome to come join us and definately come look us up at the campground in the evening (even if you're at a different c.g.) and have a beer in the wind-down zone.

Any questions, call me on my cell phone...

Hey all you MN climbers!
Just a word of advice. If your go to the state fair, instead of climbing the portable wall, spend the 5 bucks on cheese curds. It ain't worth the money. I only climbed it to prove to my friends that it was super easy (5.2/5.3?). So anyways, save your wallet for the rest of the junk.

Hey all,

I just checked the posts today (sunday) and its cool that you guys were out there, I just read it to late to meet up with you. Our team was pretty lazy, we only did 18 laps. I got pretty tired, mainly because 3 of my laps were at night so I didnt get any sleep. But it was still a kick ass time and I'll be back next year. And to anyone who cares I'm moving up to Duluth next friday, so look me up to climb.

HI All,
How was the climbing on Sat. up north? I drove up saturday morning but it was raining so I hung out in Duluth for the afternoon. I stopped off at VE to see if any one might have when there while it was raining but it was dead empty. Well hope to see you all at the gym tonight.

Hey all,

I'm from out of the country, but was wondering if anyone could hook me up with info on climbing around the Minneapolis/St. Paul area? I've got relatives there, and would like to do some climbing/bouldering the next time I'm there. PM me; thanks for your time.

Got back yesterday from Devils Tower. The Tower is awesome! Can't wait to go back.

Now I want to get back out on some MN rock. Is there anything happening this weekend? Its labor day, a nice 3 day weekend for climbing.

Dood you gotta check out Carlton peak sometime, its like Ganite but its not, next year I think we will skip shovel point and Palisade and go right to Carlton.

So who led? and what route? did you do anything else there or stop in at Rushmore?

I think a few of us are doing Barns Fri. morning, come on out if you like.

Les
I swung leads with a buddy on Durrance for our Summit Push. I did the 5.5 approach pitch(#0), Durrance crack(#2), Chockstone Crack(#5) and the Jump Traverse(#6) pitches. Fun stuff! I think you guys totally psyched yourselves out when you went there. I saw you lead Crazy Crack at Blue Mounds, thats definately harder than any pitch on Durrance. My only other truly memorable lead was Mystic and the Mulchers, an easy 5.8 that was very mentally stimulateing, 150ft pitches are wild when your not used to them. :D

Carleton Peak is great, I was up there with Rockhugger(Jeff) and a couple other people. All I got to do was lead #2 and then we got rained off.

So who is climbing this weekend?

Your right Matt it was all in our heads and we will do better next time :D , Did you enjoy the Durrance pitch? I know I can climb it, I've led it once and TR'ed another time but thats the pitch that really screws with my brain.

Anyone who is interested..Kurt, Dann and myself will be at Barns Fi morning.

I haven't actually discussed the time with Dann yet but I assume it will be 7:30 and Kurt usually shows up a little later. You can usually find us on Generic wall for a little while.

See ya there.

The Durrance pitch was really good, I got a little nervous when it got wide at the top but that was nothing and I had lots of big cams 8)

I actually feel better on the Durrance Crack because its straight forward. I get more scared when I don't know whats coming.

Ok, how bout October climbing? I will be in the neighborhood October 29th only. Is that too late to climb around there? I will be in Scandia for a week (till the 3rd of Nov) but I will only have a car on the 29th. Is there anywhere close to Scandia to climb?

Scandia is VERY close to TF. I mean like 15 miles close. From TF, go south on MN95 and west on MN97, and you pass right through. Thought you might like to know.

Les and Dann,

This isn't strictly a Minnesota climbing post, but please give me a bit of slack. When I climbed with you guys earlier this month at TF (and had a ton of fun) you indicated that you may want to participate in the AZ RC.com gathering at Oak Flat (Queen Creek) on the weekend of 9/19 through 9/21.

Are you (and / or any other MN climbers) still thinking about attending? Its looking to be a great time. I personally think you guys should bring a big MN crew down--pelliott too, since he now admits that he will climb with me. Hehe.

Curt
