Trip Report Forum Since we all know how riveting aid climbing can be, and how much you like to tell everyone else about it, I just wanted to let everyone know about the new Trip Report Forum which is where all your tales of terror should now go. You are, of course, welcome to post links to said Trip Report here in the Aid Forum. But, if the mods see a TR come through, that's where it'll get moved. Save us the two clicks of the mouse and just do it directy there. Thank ye kindly, maculated

Since I read the Aid Climbing Forum and not the Trip Report Forum, but like to read TRs about Aid/Wall Climbs, I like it when people post them here. However, rules are rules. I'm starting this thread as a repository of links to nice Wall TR's. It's probably best to avoid adding comments on the TRs to this thread in order to keep it as "index-like" as possible. You can add comments to TR's posted in the TR forum. Here's a link to an old TR from my first wall...Lurking Fear, Sept/Oct. 2001. Enjoy. http://www.camp4.com/morebigwallart.php?newsid=375 Here's a TR that my parnter wrote last year after we climbed the WF of the Leaning Tower. http://www.developer360.com/tr-leaning.htm My favorite line from this TR was edited to protect my feelings. "...Marathons have been led in less time than it took Melissa to lead the next pitch...." Here's a link to Brianinslc's photoTR of our trip up Moonlight Butress in Zion: http://mtncommunity.org/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=read_count&om=1441&forum=DCForumID1 If you have other favorites from "the archives" (here or on another site), I'd love to follow your links...

Hmmm, this post might get big, so I'll grab a place in the queue. For the most part, you can find my trip reports in one of two places. You've probably found a few of them linked in my Index to Dr. Piton Stuff. You can click here for a complete listing of my El Cap Trip Reports. I'll do this in more detail when I get some time. The completed ones are [from top to bottom] Scorched Earth, Zenyatta, Muir, Jolly Roger, Native Son, Reticent, Aurora, and everything else beneath.

In reply to: Since I read the Aid Climbing Forum and not the Trip Report Forum, but like to read TRs about Aid/Wall Climbs, I like it when people post them here. However, rules are rules. No, rules are guidelines, and sometimes they need to be re-examined. This kind of situation crops up repeatedly and screams out for subcategories; I'll make that my next active project (after the current 4 are completed), unless Eric, Trevor, or Biff want to tackle it. The mod is rather trivial: http://rpgnet.clanmckeen.com/demo/index.php?go=0&vgo=0 Linking threads into multiple forums might be more problematic, but only slightly so; if we don't mind maxing out at 2 categories per thread, adding a single column to the POSTS_TABLE will do the trick, along with an extra clause in a few SQL queries (maybe 5-10, but this is just a guess). I'm growing less and less concerned about forking phpbb2 as they take longer and longer to hit milestones, and we diverge further from them philosophically. I'd like to wait for 2.2, but on the other hand, this could happen ASAP and make things run a lot more smoothly around here. For example, adding subcategories for certain subtopics ('Warrior's Way' within T&T, etc.) and multiple-linkage (this post could easily split off into a thread in Source Code) would be a good idea... There are a lot of things that 'would be nice'; the more Supporting Partners we can sign up, and the more discretionary project funding we therefore have to earmark for stuff like this, the faster we can move on it. When we're asking someone to spend a lot of time on a project that might be horribly tedious and painful (like a large-scale forums hack), it never hurts to offer an incentive.
