A little morbid thread for your Monday morning... When you leave this world, do you wish to be buried or cremated and why - if you wish to be cremated what are your wishes for the remains? Happy Monday

i want to be cremated because i'm claustrophobic and i think cemetaries are mostly a waste of otherwise good land. i would like for my ashes to be thrown out from the top of a desert tower, followed by the best kegger the desert has ever seen. dont miss me, be happy for the times we had, and be happy for me that it's finally over.

in the future there will be no cemeteries in high population states - they take up too much valuable real estate.

In reply to: in the future there will be no cemeteries in high population states - they take up too much valuable real estate. Hey, nothing wrong with burrying people in catacombs under the city. That's what I want to be burried in. Actually, a nice cavern with a brick antechamber would be nice with directions for intrepid explorers to visit my old bones after a time. That would be pretty interesting I think.

I want to be freezedried and put on display at the local museum... for real, I heard about this thing where you get cremated and then they dump your ashes into some concrete that they form into a weird mushroom with holes shape and sink in the ocean to jumpstart coral reefs...and thats what I want. because I don't like the idea of the traditional memorial plaque and coffin and stuff...its just morbid and silly...this way I'm supporting an ecosystem. If I can't have that, I want to be buried sans coffin in some forest somewhere, you know, again the ecosystem thing.

well, hopefully my body will be impossible to reclaim, so it won't be an option.

Cremation. And my ashes scattered to the wind. I can't stand to be in one place for more than six months.

either way.... y'all call baked jake for the memorial stone :D seriously i confront this issue daily because i sell memorials for cemeterys and i would prefer to be cremated and have my ashes dropped into chautauqua lake. i don't believe there could be a more fitting memorial.

There is a company that can take a person's ashes and create a diamond-like stone from them using some kind of pressure process...

^could I be transformed in a lipstick, so I could kiss ladies for a few more months after my death? I would like to be cremated and have my ashes dispersed on Le Suchet, a 5000 ft small mountain in the Swiss Jura mountains (you can go see the Suchet in the route DB, Europe, Switzerland, West, Suchet). I love this place, I climbed it almost 20 times, by night, by day, in the winter and in the snow, in the wind, in the fog, in the sun, alone, with friends. I slept overnight there. This is MY mountain!

Viking Funeral My body in a small boat, with my dog, set to sea, and lit afire while all my friends and relatives get plowed, cheering for what an asshole I was.

Third option: Tower of Silence. The Parsees in Bombay dump the bodies of their deceased relatives into a huge concrete tower. The fat vultures gather in droves for every funeral.

In reply to: ^with your DEAD dog or with your living dog being burnt alive? I believe the deal is that your funerary "best man" of sorts is supposed to "do the deed" as he preps the boat for your departure. Now I thought this seemed kinda cold blooded at first. But then I thought about the alternative. Would I rather my four footed pal remain here without his master, living with my loser friends that will rarely walk him, even more rarely bathe him, feeding him twinkies and fried chicken, and blowing pot smoke in his ears?

I always wanted to be buried on the moon. I doubt that would ever happen, so I opt for regular old burial.

Mummified and buried in a cave tomb with a sleeping bag shroud, surrounded by climbing gear, a kayak, trainers +_ shorts + running vest, books, you get the idea, so archeologists in thousands of years time could look at my tomb, and find out about me. On the other hand maybe I could be frozen instead of mummified. But a huge freezer would look a bit out of place in a cliffside cave and might confuse the archeologists. If I couldn't have that, then I think I'd like to have my heart cut out and buried on the top of Mount Everest (more litter I hear everyone say). Its a bit like the Bruce wanting his heart to be taken to the Holy Land.

In reply to: Third option: Tower of Silence. They used to do something similar in the Pacific Northwest, leaving the bodies up in trees for the birds. They showed it in a scene in the movie Dead Man. Anyway feeding the birds seems like a good way to dispose of our no longer needed bodies.

I want my body to be donated to science, and my organs given to anyone who can use them. The way I look at it, when I'm dead I'll have no more use for my body so someone else might as well get to do something with it.
