what are the best nuts to buy; aircraft alum; brass or steel and why?

aluminum for light weight in larger sizes where it matters.

for small placements:
brass for soft rock so that the brass deforms instead of shattering the rock.
steel for hard rock where there is no point in having the stopper deform.

if you are new just geta set of aluminum nuts. you shouldn't need small brassies until you are pushing the grades. i love my dmm wallnuts, but bd rocks are nice as well.

I'd recommend the BD stoppers... I have a set and they work great.

Consider saving a few bucks and go with ABC or Smileys over BD. Same sizes and cheaper. THe nice thing is Smileys and ABC use the same colors for anodizing which keeps things simple.

I believe ABC bought out Smileys and simply replaced the logos.

That's too bad, as seeing that smiling mug while sketched out on lead was somehow comforting.

I think all the smileys are gone off most of my nuts. Too much use :( I miss the little guys!
