How come some days you are really "on it" or in the "zone" when you are climbing and the next day you are a total thrash fest? I was so bad last night at the gym...yet a few days earlier I could do no wrong (for me). I started by bouldering, but wasn't hitting, so I went to do some leading, and thrashed on that...then I did some TRing and I finally gave up. Does this ever happen to you?

i agree. i need to stretch for a bit before i climb, to get my mind in the zone. i've tried to climb after a crappy day at work... and if i can't stop thinking about the crappy day, i can't climb very well either....

That actually happened to me last night....ugh, I was horrid. Everything I tried I botched. Even things I had done multiple times previously. It was rather disappointing. So, I made an early night of it, went home and did some laundry. *shrugs* Guess it was just one of those days. P.S. Was that you at the gym last night Gail? I didn't recognize you, I thought it might have been but then I changed my mind. I must have been having a mentally bad day as well. *sigh*

This can happen to me within the space of a single night. A couple nights ago at the beginning of my climbing session I could do no wrong, and was sticking moves I wouldn't have dreamed of. Of course later on that night I couldn't get up the same route to save my life, and every move on the route that had flowed so easily before, was suddenly once again impossible. It seems that sometimes gravity disappears, and then rears its ugly head again just when you start to get an ego...

All of his 5.10s are closer to 5.11+
