Hi there - I am a Maltese climber. There are many climbing sites in Malta, most are extremely easy to access. The problem is that there is a lack of organisation, so basically, you need to climb with a local to be able to find the sites etc. A website worth looking at is www.maltarockclimbing.com. A guide book should be published some time next year, so things should become easier for anyone wanting to climb here. Anyway, if anyone wants more details about climbing in Malta - let me know - would be glad to be of assistance!

Ive never climbed in Malta, Southern Italy but never Malta. What is the quickest cheapest way to get there from ..... well from anywhere. lol. Does Ryan Air fly down there anywhere? I would be deffinately intersted in a trip there sometime before it gets too hot.
P.S. I couldn't get the website you mentioned to open.

You can get to Malta from most international airports. There is a ferry service between Italy/Sicily and Malta, but I am not sure if it works all year (might stop in winter months). Will check exact details of climbing website, and will also check out the ferry website so that you can check when it works/how much it costs etc. Unfortunately, unless you get on to the charter flight (many of which operate to/from Malta) flying to Malta tends to be expensive-ish. Will try to get better details. Probably over the week end or Monday am..

Hi Kathy
Happen to be coming to Malta in July (flights booked!) to go to a wedding in Rabat. While we are there we are hoping to get around 9 days climbing done. Looked at www.malta-climbing.com and it look excellent.
Any recommendations on particular climbs, climbing areas and camping would be fanatastic!!

I just contacted Malta Rockclimbing and the guide is not available when I am planning to visit - middle of June 2004. I was really looking forward to spending a week there.
Kathy: I was wondering if you know of any other guides that you would recommend? Or someone else might have a suggestion?

Just an update: There are now weekly climb meetings with the Malta Climbing Club. I've compiled some resources for climbing in Malta, such as events and locations.

Malta is a super great spot for deepwatersoloing ! you will find many spots in COmino and Gozo. You need a boat to get to all these spots but believe me, you will really enjoy your time. The water is really warm in summer (27C), you will find a lot of arches and caverns where to climb.
Only problem can be the jellyfish but ... I am sure you will be fine !
