Im planning a trip to el paso around Christmas.... So a visit to Hueco Tanks sounds like part of the plan. Are there sport routes (bolted routes at the tanks? If so does anyone know of an online guide of the routes? chucky

Most of the "sport" routes at Hueco are run-out scarefests from the 80's. And they are few and far between. The bouldering is much better than the routes so your time would be better spent with a crashpad and not a rope. John Sherman's Hueco guide does cover the routes as well as bouldering if you're still interested.

ya there is sport roots, but the real gold there is the bouldering. When people say it is the best in the world they mean it. :P If you really want to go there for sport here are some tips. 8) 1. get the huco guid book 2. try to get there early so you can get into the park 3. inspect bolts "I've gotten word that some of the bolts are old and a little shaky" 4. stay on the trails and respect the park rules "for all the other climbers out there" 5. get some of that hand cream because you tips get shredded fast out there
