Another wedding thread!!!

I've read most of the old threads on weddings which had some great ideas... My question is more focused on the dress. The wedding will be outside in the fall. I figured you ladies might have some outdoorsy ideas. I just want a simple white sundress... patagonia-ish. If anyone knows where I could find one, I would appreciate the info. Thanks!!!

I'm going to have my dress packed away while I hike somehow. We finally picked a day! June 19!!! :P Now we just need a location for sure.

Here are the dresses I'm thinking of:

http://www.goodorient.com/goodorient/customer/product.php?productid=24135&AID=5437464&PID=1287310&cat=504&page=1

http://www.goodorient.com/goodorient/customer/product.php?productid=24316&AID=5437464&PID=1287310&cat=504&page=1

which one do you like? I am leaning towards traditional white. I'm so psyched!

Go with the white one. Very cool. And cheap!

If you['re going to wear an asian styled dress, I say go for the red. Red is the traditional color of good luck in China and Chinese brides wear red dresses like that.

I like the white or red dress, very lovely!

In regards to red being the color for Chinese weddings: I went to a wedding where the bride wore a european white wedding dress for the ceremony then changed into a red Chinese dress and made a grand entrance into the reception area. I thought it was a nice effect.

This may sound silly, but I want a wedding dress that will show off my back muscles. I may even have a tattoo on my back by that time. I'm sure my mom will be thrilled!

I'm gonna have to agree with dancesonrocks for this one. Speaking as a married man, there's just something about a white dress that's very nice at a wedding...but then shock and amaze with red (or black for that matter) at the reception. :D

Another option might be to have a dress made for you. These ares not traditional wedding dresses, rather ethnic or vintage inspired garments.

Check out this website for what I am talking about.

this might be tangential. I heard a story of a couple who got married in jtree and their "dance" was actually a climb up the rock.

it would be nice to have a wedding dress where you could maybe rip off the skirt and just wear the bodice part w/ pants/shorts for climbing. if the dress is simple, maybe the veil or some accessory could be ornate... just some thoughts.

We finally found the place!

On the morning of June 19th Blueeyedclimber and I will be married at the bottom of White Horse Ledge in North Conway, NH. We will then have our first climb together as a married couple!

I am so excited!!! :P

Congratulations. That's pretty awesome.

My fiance and I are getting married September 20 at the base of Yamnuska (well, at the bottom of the 40 minute approach). Then we're going to Bishop for the honeymoon.

I actually wore pants boutique and a $10 top from a hippie store for the 7am ceremony. Josh had a white button down and linen pants.

For the night time reception I wore a black backless Asian style dress that had dragons (man symbol) and phoenix (woman symbol) all over it. Josh wore a silk kung fu outfit. Both were custom made by Kim's Fashion Design in China Town in Boston. I think I ended up spending $300 on the dress. Aside from feeding everyone, that was the most expensive part of our wedding! No good pics from the ceremony unfortunately!

Wedding photography can be pricey for sure, but it is nice to have good photos from the wedding as well. if you are on a tight budget, then getting a craigslist "need portfolio shots" can work out OK, but not always. For our wedding (also on a tight budget) We had a friend that is a great photographer, but just getting started with weddings there, along with a couple of other pros in the audience. You can also look at just doing an engagement session or after wedding session to save some money, but still end up with some really good photos.

This was the sticker that was mixed in with my vows...
