Logged on for the first time in a while and saw the ridiculous number of 10's on the front page. "photon" and "michael crowder" have completely exploited the overnight processing that the photo ratings now go through. Most of these pictures are utterly awful (< 5/10) , the ice ones are okay (~6-8/10) but really, it's made a mockery of the front photo page. What's more, since your own vote doesn't count, have these people assigned themselves a second log in, to get around the problem ? Surely no-one else in the universe thinks these pieces of rubbish are worth 10's so I assume this must be the case.
Can you please redress this issue - either return it to the "old" way a few months ago - or introduce a minimum number of votes to be counted ?

Sure, but in the meantime, someone else will put their garbage up, and so on and so on ...
At least with the ice pictures, a slightly modified title or description mightn't have gone astray

theres a bloody photo of a house, and an indoor, gumpy poser voted as 10!! and its been like that since this time yesterday! You americans do have an overnight don't you!?? i voted many as '1' just to get them off the front page...alas, where are the now...???

If you children can't behave yourselves we'll just have to make it so this kind of thing can't happen, either by ignoring votes from the poster, a different default sorting, or by giving all those who vote their lame pics a 10 a very gnarly spanking.

I don't mean to offend you by saying this but, STOP bitchin' about stuff that really doesn't matter. The more photos on the system the better. I personally welcome all sorts of photos as long as their climbing/mteering related. Who cares if ppl rate them a 10 when they should be a 5. Why are we even rating them? Some ppl rate them cause they thought it was cool to see a famous climber or a really hot chick... or maybe they vote them high cause it was a good quality photo and scan. Who cares.
Take ratings off.

I think that the concern of the original poster is that the problem may not pass. There are many egocentric people out there that like to play "pranks." Some pranks are OK, but others get out of hand. Time will tell.

The photos that are on top of the BY RANK listing are not the ones that show up on the FRONT PAGE!!!
The photos that link to the front page have a completely different criteria. Like they must have AT LEAST 5 VOTES!
So, a 10 on the BY RANK list does not put a pic on the FRONT PAGE of the website. If you do not like the BY RANK list, then go to VIEW NEW, or use the tools at the top of the photo page to sort the pictures however you want to. Sort by VOTES, AREAS, STYLE of ROUTE, etc...
Or feel free to scroll one more page past the tens to see where the really good pictures are, or actually find someone whos work you enjoy, and view their picture gallery.
SO MANY OPTIONS, quit quibbling about a one day thing where someones pictures are "ranked" ahead of someone else. They will have their fifteen minutes of fame, and then the "exposure" (pun intended) they gave their pic will backfire because everyone saw it and downgraded it BECAUSE THEY PUT IT on top themsleves... :wink:
