I was wondering if anyone had some good suggestions for climbing/bouldering in either south-east or south-central Texas this time of year...a buddy and I are looking for a stopover point between Phoenix and Potrero Chico. Hueco is full-otherwise we'd be there! Thanks Tyler

Austin and the near-by areas are excellent. Should be guidebooks available at the local shops. Also a very cool music/bar scene and mucho UT hotties on the greenbelt.

Enchanted Rock-- Excellent Granite bouldering and traditional climbing. Problems are hard to find sometimes, but they are excellent. It's about an hour outside of San Antonio.

if you are coming from Phoenix, check out Continental Ranch in South Texas. Like so much of Texas, it's private property, and you have to pay to play. Still, it's the highest limestone in Texas that I know of, and its nature is quite similar to Potrero. Sometimes it is closed for hunting, though, so check out the website. www.pecosriverclimbing.com

6th Street is fun if a little over-rated. 4th Street (Warehouse District) is better. Depends on age too, I guess.
