I was looking for some sport climbing in northern Alabama or around that area. Something in lik the 5.10 range and below, I want to take my girlfriend to Southern Illinois and then HP 40 and maybe some other climbing if there is some around there, but I do not know. Any help would be appreciated!

Sandrock is exit 206 on Hwy 59, has a few sport routes in the 8-9 range and many in the 10a-c range, and is generally rated pretty soft. Other than that you have Foster Falls in near Chattanooga TN. It has a 5.5, 5.7, and quite a few 5.9's.

just look it up under the "routes" on the site and you can get a general idea of some areas. I second the Dixie Craggers Atlas and Sandrock!! Awsume place if you get the chance climb comfortably numb on Pinical Rock!!!! :D

Have to agree with Sandrock. Jaws Block has some easy short 5.5-5.7's you can toprope and get warmed up on. Some good sport routes are Kennel Club, Launchitude, and Sneakers. Other awesome topropes would be Jaws, Popular Science( AKA Golden Flake) and First Black in Space. If you're lucky, someone will have Comfortably Numb(trad) set up and will let you jump on it or if you have the gear you can climb The Standard Route (trad 5.6) to get to the top and then set up Comfortably Numb yourself.

Honestly I did check the site and the amount of places to climb in northern alabama was overwhelming, and I did not feel like clicking on everyone to see which had sport climbing. Sandrock sounds great! Thanks for the tips guys!

Sandrock is in the imediate area of HP40. There is a fair amount of sport climbing there, along with bouldering. The routes are graded high for the climbs. You should generally rate about 1 grade below DCA. You also have Foster Falls, T-Wall, and Rocktown with in a couple hours drive.
If you have any questions about the area, feel free to im or pm me, and I will try to answer any questions you might have.
