Hi Mitch,
Yeah, I had the same problem when trying to learn
aid and bigwalls. I started rope soloing, but if you plan
on doing this be very careful, there's a lot that can
go wrong when by yourself.
I would try and find a partner with similar intrests
and go aid up an unpopular 5.11-5.12 crack.
If you've been trad climbing for several years, aid
climbing will not be that hard to figure out. There's
a few tricks and techniques involved, but you can find
a lot of info online about how to deal with most of
the tricks.
Anyway, you need to just get out there and try
different things. Be calm. Take your time and look at
your gear very good while placing it. Make sure you're
NOT looking at it when testing. If it blows.... it
hurts when hitting you in the face.
Feel free to ask specific questions. I don't have a
lot of time right now..... so, gotto go.

Yeah, I was going to PM you to see what kind of error you were getting since I'm not aware of any general unresolved coding issue that would hose PMs. Good to see you worked it out and discovered the problem was the loose nut behind the keyboard.

yea, it doens't help that i don't know many climbers around here, back east i know a bunch of people who were starting to aid climb that i could have gone with, but alas they are all back in the gunks.
so if anyone out near davis/sac area wants to learn aid with me or show me me some things send me a pm
on a side thread of this
