Yes, there is a party at six on sunday. I was pretty bummed by the news since the only other public training facility in Tempe is the PRG.

Climbmax was great but its bouldering only fomat just does not make money. Gyms don't make money of the regulars that visit a gym. They make money of people who come in every once and a while and pay the daily fee. And that type of clientel does not want to clime 10 feet up or risk hitting the ground from a fall. I beleive the new north Phoenix gym is now open and I think the North Scottsdale facility is getting close. It is sad to see climbmax go though.

I was at Climbmax last night, and it was pretty somber. Mike said Climbmax has been a labor of love, but decided he needs to concentrate on the new gym. He is opening a new gym in North Phoenix, but it won't be done until summer (I heard that it will be on N. Cave Creek). Much too far for some of us in the East Valley. It's closer to drive to Queen Creek than north PHX.

It will be interesting to see if the Climbmax culture remains intact in the N. Scottsdale gym. Climbmax had a good vibe and hopefully it will resonate to the new location.

Only problem with the North Scottsdale and North Phoenic facilities. Getting there from the east valley during rush hour will take forever. Currently It takes me about 25 minutes to get to PRG. The civil engineer who created the 101 loop on the scottsdale side should have been shot.

If your membership was current, I heard that you would get reimbursed at the new location times two. That is, if you had 2.5 months left at Climbmax Tempe then you would get 5 months credited to you at Climbmax's new location. Small consolation.

I'm sorry to see Climbmax go. I learned to climb there and worked there for two years before moving to this climbing hellhole that is Michigan. I'm glad to hear that the N. Phoenix facility is still in the works, though. Hope everything works out for Mike and Sharon. If anyone sees Lorenzo or Mike, tell them I said Hi. Phil

I think its crazy that Mike's going to further saturate the north side with two other gyms just opening up there. That leaves Deif in the definite catbird seat at PRG. He's got a lock on the whole SE valley. I may be wrong, but I thought a lot of Mike's clientele were students from ASU. They're not going up to Cave Creek. The thing I liked best about Climbmax were the quality routes you could do with no partner needed, and the early hours if you had to work afternoons or evenings. I like PRG, but it opens too late and the bouldering sucks so you definitely need to line up a partner.

I have enjoyed climbing and working at climbmax for the last 7 years. It has always felt like a second home to me and I will deeply miss it. I guess for now I am just gonna go underground. Sessions on my woddie! ANYBODY WHO AS EVER BEEN TO CLIMBMAX SHOULD BE AT THE PARTY THAT WE ARE HAVING ON SUNDAY AT 6, BE THERE OR DIE! Andrew
