Hey everybody. My friend and I are visiting a church in Kentucky and I convinced him to do some hiking in Red River Gorge. I'd like to do some bouldering also since I've only been climbing about 2 months and shoes are the only thing I have. On rrggc.org all I saw were sport routes and trad. Any help would be appreciated. I'm going Monday the March 11, 02. Thanks.

Bouldering is not (to the best of my knowledge) open to bouldering development. You can still boulder, but I'm pretty sure that bouldering areas can be closed if they are developed and published.

Click here for a better explination.

If you want to find out about a bouldering area you can check at Miguel's to see if any of the climbers there can give you directions to areas like the coffee shop.

Thanks guys. I guess the best thing to do is just ask around when I get up there and have fun messing around. That'd probably be better anyway than just trying to do some boulder problems that I don't have the skills to do anyway.

Dude, I was just there the weekend of March 1st-3rd... no one has this "bouldering" guide. Shell or Red River Outdoors.

http://extremz.com/main/archive/rock/boulderredoct99.htm

here is some info...I had a link with the bouldering at skybrigde and some other places but I can't find it.

The bouldering guide may be out of print. Their was some FS issues with the book. Alot of the places were not approved by the FS....as the "The Rock Climbing Management Guide " stated. Check with Big Country, I heard he was working on a guide but that was a couple of years ago....

Man! That is excellent info. I wish I had that when we were getting rained on. I would of hiked on in there, set up my tarp and bouldered off and on between rains.

Is the http://extremz.com/main/archive/rock/boulderredoct99.htm link working for people? Won't work for me.

By the way, when I was there, had a great time hiking and seeing the Natural Bridge and other arches but only got to climb on a couple of rocks beside the trail because my friend got sick. It was still incredible being my first time on real rock. Will post a pick when we get them developed.

Thanks again.

Ah man that sucks to hear about your friend.

I was able to get in using that link.????
Just do a search for bouldering. I found a couple of thing but not the link with all the bouldering areas. It was a great site. It had topos of the areas and all the names of the boulders.

So what routes were you able to get on?
