Hello,
Has anybody tried these reuseable screamer things that the wonderful folks at Pika make?http://www.pikamtn.com/13techiegear.html They're about halfway down the page.
Someone braver than me should test fly 'em.

Are you talking about the shreaker load limiter?
If so then, no I have not used it.

The webpage says the Shreaker is a conventional ripped-stitching type of screamer. I think Krusty The Klimber is asking about the reusable Shocker load limiter. I looks like the webbing slips, under friction, through the yellow frame. A great concept. Does it work? Don't know. But, if they did the geometry right for the frame, and how the webbing pulls through, it should work pretty well. This is probably the future of screamers: reusables. Technically, there is no reason not to have this sort of thing.

Yeah I've used them. One of my climbing buddies sews them at Pika. I've taken some 25 ft. whippers and they seem to unravel about halfway at that height of a fall. We hooked them up like a draw and jumped. I think they are meant to be used on crux sections when a whipper is likely. I really don't think their worth the time or money to carry them around and use, my rope seems to be soft enough for a fall.

You do mean the reusable one in the metal frame, not the sewn ones, right?
If so, then I'm stoked!
So what you are saying is that they went from about ten inches long (with 'biners) to about four feet long, after about a twelve foot lead out?
They are mostly intended to go on less than ideal plecements, so you don't pull the pieces when you fall, not so much to limit the pounding that the climber takes.
