Next time you make a trip up to Blockbuster check out the movie K2. It's about two friends attempt at climbing the mountain. It's kind of hokey too..but the beginning of the movie is pretty entertaining. A nice rock climbing scene. Awesome pendulum!

What I want to know is why would the bolts blow and then the cam hold I think it would be the other way around. The best climbing scene from a move would either be Star Trek V or one of the James Bond movies it had a badass leadfall.

I noticed that sword sound too. If you're gonna get a climbing movie though, get The Eiger Sanction. One of the oldest but coolest climbing movies ever made. I still wonder why they had Clint Eastwood wearing a hard hat while everyone else was wearing helmets.

Actually, while I was climbing a route in Yosemite a few years ago, I was at a belay that had a single bolt. Since I don't trust those things much anyway, I backed it up with some gear. While my partner was seconding the pitch the bolt blew. Bolts do blow. Well placed gear is bomber.

I'd like to remind everyone that this is a MOVIE. Every single action/adventure movie is full of things that would never happen in real life. Do you really think the only thins that they blow out of proportion are the climbing scenes???? I was never meant to be realistic. Just because we have this weird obsession, we think our sport should be depicted realistically on the big screen. When was the last time anything was depicted realistically on the big screen???

Yes Vertical Limit was kind of pushing it. Iam sure its disappointment to some climbers. Good advertisement for equipment though. I believe K2 was a true story. Maybe now that the sport is getting more popular someone will come out with a realistic climbing movie. Or a documentary for theaters. Then maybe we'll have something to talk about.

dude, don't get me wrong... but where does the matirx fall in climbing ? I mean, there is really no relation at all. But to sum it up, vertical limit is a very nice show. I enjoyed the starting scene the best. The jump of faith was totally bogus and the ending was just ok... considering that almost everyone else who had gone to search for 1 missing climber. It's just scary to think that such a freak accident (like the one in the starting scene) might actually happen ? I mean, who knows !

Vertical limit was mis-marketed-- it is actually a climbing comedy, where all they failed to do was resurrect the three stooges for the lead roles.

You mean the scenes in Vertical Limit were fake?!?!?!?!? Damnit, that movie inspired me to climb in the first place. Oh well, time drop climbing find something really exciting to do. Maybe I'll get a souped up Honda and race it through the city streets or get a motorcycle that goes a bazillion miles an hour and use it to beat people up.

I think that that movie blew. The best climbing movie has got to be K2 by far. The thing that got me was that all the climbers looked saprised to see a avalanch. You would think that they would know what one was.

I can't beileve no one has mentioned the scene with good old Tommy Cruise from mission impossible 1 or 2 or what ever one it was in Vertical Limit though you do have to love the scene where all the guys load in to the chopper and the one guys is bending over and looking between his legs and someone asks what he is doing to which he responds "trying to kiss my ass good-bye" great movie quote SO wait are you saying that you can't run and jump and jam 2 ice axes into a wall??? Damn - maybe thats why the people at my gym were looking at me funny

I think people need to start learning how to spell the word supposedly, and not supposively. Sorry, but I found that very annoying.
