I have one day in Birmingham and am looking to get the most climbing in....trad or sport. Any recommendations on where to spend my time? Could use a partner too... Thanks!

i notice you didnt' have bouldering as an option... you'd be wise to check out hp40 but other than that you have to travel pretty far to get to some good trad/sport climbing. i hear sandrock has some sport climbing but i am clueless

well for sport and a lil trad there is Sandrock. Great place to check out if you don't mind a lil grafiti and some local hicks on crappy dirt bikes ridding up and down the dirt road by the camp sites  but a maglite to the eyes works  but anyways its got some great climbing and for trad there are a couple of other good spots just check out the routes, most anything is gona be bout 3+ hr. from there i would imagine though

Horse Pens 40 is great for bouldering. You can travel about a 1/2 hour up the road to Sandrock and get in some sport routes, or you can head up to Tennessee to T-wall, Foster Falls. T-wall has trad, and Foster Falls is mainly sport. Let me know what day your headed out, and I may be able to help you out. Show you around the area a little.

Sandrock is decent for mid 5.11 and under. If you prefer more difficult /steeper routes, look for other less publicized alternatives in the area.
