Like many on this site, I am at a loss as to why Pete was banned.
Sure, there has been lots of crap spouted by a few users, crap that I consider to be baseless allegations. Some of these allegations even went so far as to say that there would be legal liability for this site. Well, if you want to spew that while simultaneously slinging mud all over the place, I would say that Pete has a fair case for defamation.
It's ridiculous that someone is banned because some loud annoying users shrilly preach that they have 'evidence' that proves something. I don't think they do. What about the TOS, that says you can't attack another user? Someone on this site got on every forum here to smear Pete! Definite defamation of character.
The other totally insane thing about this, is that tons of responses to threads in the aid forum always say "look at the Dr. Piton index." So this site is blatantly abusing Pete and using his hard work to improve itself. He should copyright all that info and remove it, considering the backstabbing he's taken here.
The best aid info here came from Pete. It still does, and he's been banned for a month! Now, I can learn from Pete's articles, but if I have a question, I'd rather ask them man who wrote the article. I don't want to ask someone else and get the "Pete is an a-hole" reply.
I don't really care if you don't like Pete. Maybe you've met him, I haven't. It's irrelevant. He put a lot of great aid info on this site, more than anyone else. You can ignore him. You can killfile him. RC.com has adequate avenues for protecting yourself from him, if you feel that's warranted.
Bring Pete back. I've got some Aid to learn.

Pete is banned what the heck for? I do not see what he did to break the TOS and he was an experienced contributor to the site. Bring back PTPP!

As far as I know, he was banned with no explanation. But that seems to be par for the course around here these days. My guess is that enigma is banned next.

Reading between the lines, it seems apparent that pete was still pursuing inappropriate behavior towards the women on this site. If that is the case, good riddance as far as I am concerned.

Last I checked, the site was neither a democracy nor a republic. I don't think they owe me, or anyone else a detailed revealing of what needs to be done to keep things on the up and up. Despite the fact that I am intrigued as much as anyone else, I have decided to accept what is.
Or at least try.

ditto that. i'm managing to learn aid just fine without pete around. get a copy of big walls and find partners who are interested in aid or are willing to mentor a gumbie.
it's also pretty easy to tell who tends to be answering questions around here - they just dont tout themselves as the ultimate authority on aid climbing. i've sent plenty of questions via pm to such users and have never received a nasty response. in fact, i've received excellent information and offers to maybe partner up some day. (yee-haw)

Defamation of character...lol...obviously you and Pete have spent sometime spooning.
I've swapped beta with Pete for years. I've slagged Pete for out and out self aggrandizement for years too. When i meet him face to face I would not feel bad, and I would stand by every interaction i have had with him.
The dude spouts and writes tons...if you aid climb for more than a month you will figure out all of Pete's ideas are not always "the better way". Some are, with experience and discretion you will find which are nuggets and which are turds. He willingly spouted all he wrote.
I thought he was banned for sex harrassment of women...young ones too. Noone needs that, and if true good riddance.
If you truly learned "how to aid climb" via the internet you are doomed.
Chasing little girls, in real life or via email, cuz you lack the social graces to pickup women through more appropriate means is sub par human behavior
Defame and slander me at will, I will not hold you nor this site liable.
Just my thoughts

You really think that just because no one told you, there ain't a reason??? Do you really think that this affair is anyone's business other than Pete and the Management?
If you really want to know what happened, why don't you email Pete? He just may ask you not to stir the pot and dawdle in other peoples business.

It is so funny in life how people find one person usually more well known then they are or let us say more well known then most in the general populace and then they proceed to slander and defame that person when they themselves have probably made more egregious errors in their life. What is sexual harrassment ?well the legal definition is only applicable in a work place, so let us find a rockclimbing.com definition, hmm someone who says inappropriate things in a sexual manner to another person, that might work. WAIT A SEC! Is that not the community forum? Whether Pete was arrogant or could only climb A3 does this matter? he contributed loads of pictures and stories, probably more than anyone on this site. So even if you think his advice is crap that is not all he gave open your eyes. As climbers I thought we were more loving and open people we recognize that everyone has a different sometimes weird, sometimes crazy personality, but does that make that person any less deserving? Oh I forgot it is America land of the scape-goat you have never done anything wrong just everyone else has, especially when that person is in someway totted as more important or more popular than you. It seemed like there was some sort of beef between Ammon Mcneeley and PTPP does anyone know what this was or am I just dreaming about that? PTPP seems like President Bush in someways, he is either loved or hated but usually blamed for everything by people who cannot even balance there own checkbooks but want to say how to run a country. What has Pete ever done to you? and the youngest girls I have ever seen post on this website are 18 or 19. now for Pete that is young but for most of us that is far from robbing the cradle, you guys make it sound like he sent nude pics of himself to a little 10 year old rockclimbing.com girl. Bring Pete back.

I for one do not miss him a bit. While the volume in our neck of the woods has been lower since he "left", it has been far more productive. Good bye to bad rubbish.

I wasn't aware up till now that PTPP has been banned. I hope there were very good reasons for doing this. Please tell me that "Timpanogos" was kidding about that picture being the reason. I'm assuming it was just a joke. That picture was approved by an RC.COM admin to even get on the site. There's nothing wrong with it. Most of the pics of female climbers on this site show about 10 times more 'detail'!
As far as his contributions go, I enjoy his stories and have found some very useful information in his "banter". That's just me. It IS a forum. If this is an attack on his overall character and contributions, as opposed to his "alleged" lewd behavior towards minors, then I do have a problem with the banning. If you don't want to read his words, then don't! I do not, however, know the story and it's all conjecture as of now. I believe him to be an excellent contributor in many ways and would like to see him return.
Just my opinion! :wink:

It was a joke.
The point being, maybe we took some of Pete's obnoxious ways just a bit too seriously?
As someone else noted, I believe the site has the features for those wishing no contact from or viewing of his material to block it.
I did the Prow with Pete last May. I would climb again with Pete anytime.
Pete has his quarks (don't we all) but he has a good heart.
More to the point, for better or worse, the majority of what I know about aid - came from Pete and this site. I for one am grateful for the ton's of time and effort that he was willing to spend with a non-female gumby like me.
Someone saying - just go to John Longs Big Walls and learn it - yea, right

dude, i dont even like president bush, and i'm offended by that - i think a more appropriate celebrity comparison would be micheal jackson.
as a longtime lurker around here, there seemed to be a beef between pete and most of the users on this site.

can we get confirmation from an admin that he has indeed been banned? i thought when a user was banned all his profile info and forum posts were deleted, and u ended up with a "ghost user" in essence... i'm pretty sure i have seen it before with other banned ppl. yet all of pete's stuff is still here....
