I am that I am, and if that is indeed all that I am ever to be, it is enough. To take power from the world is nothing, but to find power in what is already given, no matter what the intent, is truly a remarkable thing. A runner runs because it is their nature. A thinker thinks in the same respect. What is there to envy or respect? They have power and use it to its potential, as do we all, but that is not the limit of their being. It's not when you do what you are capable of, but when you use every aspect of your being to exceed your limitations that a feat is truly of worth to me. Now you're getting cryptic (that's good). All I was saying is that I have all I need on me to climb. I see people crank through routes with pure strength. Sure they start out a little better, but I don't envy them. They're just using what they have straight in front of them, but they climax prematurely and that's it. Next they have to go to the gym to get more power. Then they have to train power like mad, and yet they still climax early. they could turn to steroids, but that still wouldn't change anything. They are limited and always will be. It's not using your strength that makes you a good climber, it's not using it. I use my strength (what little is left to me) in combination with my technique, my physique, and most of all, my head. Someday soon I'll be good again, and not because I power through. How many times do you hear if I only had that hold, If I were only a foot taller, if only I were powerful... and so on? How can people say that when they haven't even used what they're already given? That's as clear as I can be without another twenty pages worth of details. (How that applied to trad specifically, I have n clue) heh heh, Beer and Blood - Bee Rand Blood (that shouldn't amuse me, but somehow it does) [ This Message was edited by: kriso9tails on 2001-07-27 23:40 ]
