Hello All- I was asked by the owner/President of the gym to design a bouldering room that is quite large. I want this room to be as sweet as possible. It will be made out of timber, so natural feaures will be hard, but angles will be easily added. My question to you is, have you ever been to a climbing gym and you saw any angles or anything you would like to have at a gym you climb at. Tomorrow I will get the specifications of just how big the room is. Thanks for your input, after it is finished, i plan on posting pics. Stephen

I like when theres two walls coming together to make an inverted corner that juts out into the room (if that makes sense). It's fun to straddle the 90 degree (or similar) edge and climb it up. Plus if the room is big enough this is not only neat for that reason but also neat in that you can eek out a little more surface area.

I bouler at a gym that has a skate park in it too. Behing the half pipes on the curved section are bouler routes. I love this idea, it makes it more realistic to climbing on a bouler. There aren't many right angles in nature, so dont' boulder on right angles. Make it curved

Not sure if this would be realistic in a climbing gym or not. I made a bouldering gym in my attic, quite large - took me a year to complete it. What I like most about it is the floor! Yes I have all sorts of angles for variety, but how mine differs from a regular gym is the floor. I like to push myself or ourselves to the point where we fall, constantly, and not have to worry about how we land. My entire floor is covered with two layers of mattresses and on top of them I placed a carpet to prevent falling into the cracks. This way we can push ourselves to the max and not have to worry about having a spotter! All my friends say that this is what makes my gym so much fun - or is it that they don't have to pay to use it???? Dwight

have some nice tall sections for people who like to toprope or sport climb, and then have a nice little overhang room where every wall and every roof is covered in holds, would be totaly sweet
