Prescott College (www.prescott.edu) offers an adventure education degree, in whcih you take rock climbing classes (or kayaking classes). The college is super cool, only 400 students and no dorms. You find you own apartment and so forth...A really great school with great programs. Check the website. Also, NOLS and Outward bound have rock climbinf classes.

Alaska Pacific University offers an "Outdoor Studies" degree. Not the biggest money-making opportunity there though. Most of the best climbers have been things like lawyers (James Wickwire), Scientists (Rick Ridgeway), or drunken hicks (Adrian and Allen Burgess).

I would definately have some sort of 'fallback plan' if you are aiming to become a professional climber. It's possible, don't get me wrong, but it's definately not an easy route, so to speak. You are either looking to A) start an outdoors adventure school where climbing is an activity or B) are looking to open a climbing gym. It's either that or you bury yourself in the industry somewhere by providing a unique product. One lesson I learned though.. DONT mix passions with business if you dont have to. It will almost ALWAYS lead to you hating the sport after awhile and associate the two as one. Ie - Climbing IS work. I say - only try to persue a career in the climbing world if you absolutely think you can handle it.
