Hey Chalker,

I am in the Williamsport area and I can definetly set you up with some GREAT areas to boulder in central PA. Hunter's Rock is probably the mecca. Its got everything your looking for. Drop me an email or a PM and I would be happy to share some beta with you.

Later,

Chris

Anyone ever find any rock in the snyder/northumberland/union counties area or up toward billsport? I know that a lot of the stuff in the valley is superchossy but I figure it's worth asking. Anyone?

There is great rock right in Sunbury. As for Eastern PA the stuff in the Wilkes Barre / Scranton Area will rival anything at the Gunks. Same Rock also.

Well as long as I'm here, does anyone know of climbing near Philly? Hopefully closer to Plymouth Meeting?

I'm not from the area so any help would be greatly appreciated. Even if you can just tell me which place to look for in the routes database.

Thanks!
Mike

plymouth meeting...you're within 15 minutes of Haycock, and Ralph Stover. But I don't know about Stover...I just hear everyone rave about Haycock all the time.

Can someone give more info than this? I go to that area quite often, used to work in Sunbury. What are we talking about here?

Without a Gazeteer I will have a hard time explaining. basically just south of Sunbury off the river and rt61?? I forget the rd. #.

Also Shamokin there is nice solid rock. Mount Carmel has some epic bouldering also. I heard about some stuff in Ravensburg St. PK. but I dont think its that great.

I'm a little new at climbing myself but there's an indoor climbing place in Richboro (I think) it's called the Adventure Center or something like that. That's where I go. I like it just fine. good luck in your mystical search.

Actually there is some bouldering on top of jacks moutnain, up out past pennscreak. I cant think of the road you head out on off teh top of my head once you get into pennscreak, but heads towards troxelville and then turn Rt onto Rt 235, take hunter road at the top of the mountain. the only problem is you will have to make a hike to get to teh top of the ridge and walk out the ride there are tons of possible areas, The entire ridge top is littered with boulder piles, many go off to the sides of teh mountain, most i found to be on the south side. You will have to clean off the lichen but i think its worth it. there is suppose to be a place around weikert too. if ya need more info im me. If ur up for a drive goign south to lancaster county here in Elizabethtown we have a awesoem area called Govenor stables, it is only open to PAC members, however, Mt Gretna is just up the orad a few minutes and offers some great bouldering. hundreds of problems to try from V easy to projects unfinished.

if you decide to climb at haycock, your not too far from Emmaus, Patriot and Bauer Rock. If you want more info on those areas, look em up in the RDB for PA or pm me and I'll answer any questions you have.
