http://www.two0six.com/Misc/rieger.jpg Shot this last spring? Had to crop it because of a huge Hotspot. Does the cropping work or should I spend the time to repair the original? Other Critiques?

Definately a cool looking shot, but whatever that thing is in the upper right, it keeps catching my eye and pulling me away from the climber. Awesome angle and timing though. :)

Looks to be a clearing in the tree that is catching some light from the around the side. Great looking photo. Really puts the emphasis on the climber, and the focus is good. Might be a little on the dark side - might want to see if you can pump the levels a bit - might make the colour 'pop' a little more too. Nice work!

that image is on a sloow site krill... ok, back to the image.... it is a cool image, i really like the split coloring - bluish darkish climber world and sunny green fields. And the climber is passing from one world to the other one, maybe reaching to heaven/nirvana.... And the red belayer is devil, I did not find the upper right disturbing, for me it is the mirror image of the belayer. If there was a girl with a picnik basket at the same spot, than the duality of the image would have been perfect... I am a little disturbed by the blurry bottom part though, maybe a little less would be better.... You might up the saturation a little maybe, especially at the skin color, he looks pale. overall, it is the best image ever submitted for critic, i would have given at least 9 if not 10.

Excellent shot. The framing and angle are spot on. I've gone back and forth about the bright spot in the corner. Can't say that it really bothers me, but my eye does keep wandering toward it. I like how the blue shirt stands out against the green background and the orange shirt stands out against the grey.

Ya, that's just about perfect now. You could still play with the saturation some. It would change the mood of the picture (if that's what you want), but I don't think it's necessary. Again, excellent shot.

Yup, very nice, I like the seeming nothing holds his feet are smearing on. What do you all think of the slight obscuration of his right hand by the top of the cliff. Perhaps moving the camera out just a tad would show the hand just a little better. Again though, great shot and I`m a little embarrassed about trying to pick anything in this shot.

Give this edited version a go. Post processing can add a lot to a photo! :D the colour correctness is a bit off (blues in the trees - did this quickly at work *shhh*) but you get the idea. http://www.gruvy.com/...os/climber_clean.jpg

Definately better without the bright spot. A very awesome pic anyway, and that just makes it even better! Nice! :D

I prefer it with the distracting bright spot in the upper right cropped out. jonthorpe is right, it is a little dark, but his edit did blow out the highlights. Did you shoot it digitally or is it a scanned neg/slide? If its scanned try scanning it at a higher bit rate (ie 16 bit) which will give you more leeway to tweak the levels/curves.

Looks good, it lightened up his face, and it looks like you warmed it up as well. Nice. Ryan
