Copper heads, why only one strand?

Dumb newbie question:

I've been wondering why copper heads are all set up with a single strand coming from the head rather than having two strands come out into a loop. It would seem to me that you would get a little stronger and more durable head for the cost of just a little more wire. Is it more about keeping the wire low profile or something?

Obviously if you are limited by the stickiness of the copper to the rock a double wire buys little, but a good placement would you not get a stronger more durable placement?

yeh, your wrong. The wire gives out a fair amout of the time, this leaves a dead head. Pretty easy to do with #1s and #2s. This is why it is sometimes best to leave really bomber heads in place.

Sometimes two strands are better - depends on the situation.

Dude nice pic.

Yeah, I think that #1 thingy you got out of an adult "novelty" store. What gives?

Also a real question, I've never really understood what the hell a circle-head was good for. Enlighten me.

Thanks.

Your interest in dual-cable heads is perhaps doomed by looking at stoppers and other clean pro that work totally different from heads.

Heads work by putting the business end tight and snug against the rock. Any additional leverage (e.g., second cable) is not for the living.

Sure, two cables are stronger on paper, but on the Wall you want one cable, pulling tight and close so that leverage is minimized.

Make sure that the heads are swaged securely to the cable. And make sure that they are good and malleable.

Bounce. Bounce. Bounce. Pull the head, if it will pull, before you move up and high onto it.
