Well, ok, it was more snow than rain – which was actually welcome – not quite as wet.

Anyway – soaked rope plus GriGri plus single strand RAP equals – SCARY

A wet rope (at least my 10.5 dynamic lead line) hardly feeds weighted in the grigri. Its this very sticky type deal. I typically pull the handle most of the way while rapping and control via normal atc type action over the rail.

So here I am, pulling the handle all the way back – and not moving! So you pull your break hand up towards the anchor – and waaaamm all of a sudden it will release, like a spring – the loaded rope becomes unloaded – you are drop and it locks back up (you pull back to brake) and bunji around for awhile – I had a heck of a time rapping 100’!

I’ll dig out my atc for single – wet rope – raps next time!

Also – cam hooked the crack – pictures being posted – interesting stuff – as PTPP would say – Cam hooks are emphatically the shizt (with one caveat). I’ll post when pictures are approved.
